Traction control

Is there a way (without turning it off) to make it less intrusive, allowing a little bit of slip?

press the dtc button once.. it'll light up on the cluster.

basically it has 3 modes

off(hold the dtc button and it'll switch it off after 3s or so)
press once(it'll show a sign on the cluster which means it's less intrusive but still there to save you)
and fully on(no lights on clusters etc

Doesn’t work the same way on an M.

The only standard options are on or off.

There is however the option of recoding to enable 'M Track Mode' which is probably the halfway house you’re looking for.

On or off, or reprogram M-Track which I highly recommend personally. Especially if your'e considering some sort of trackday.

From what I have read it's not designed for the standard ///M either. Some one at ///M division switched it off for a reason. Though as several people seem to like it, it can't be all bad. Just not calibrated for the ///M specifically.

I thought it was part of the “///M drivers package” available in some countries on the coupe.

Also someone at ///M division left it off for the E46 M3 and then made it available on the M3 CS, worth considering if you’re looking for perfect BMW logic. It’s a great addition to the Z4M, car drives really well with it activated.

The worst thing about the M along with the standard suspension imo, but thankfully the list is short, on an otherwise brilliant car! Just cuts in way too quickly to have much fun, and can be too wild without it on anything but perfectly dry and smooth roads. After having been passenger in one with M track mode enabled, I definitely need this done on mine.
