KW coilovers.

Post by mpm » Sun Dec 03, 2017 9:26 am

Hi all.
With KW coilovers you need a 10mm spacer to stop the wheels rubbing on the struts.
However this then makes the wheel rub on the outer part of the arch liner.
How have users managed to resolve this?
The car is running 224 wheels if that makes a difference?
Thanks

you may want to be more specific in which KW coils? i have the clubsports, no spacer required and no rubbing on CSL's if its rubbing on the inner arch, are u super low? can't really picture how that works. can you solve it with some negative camber?

They're KW variant 3s.
Only rubbing on the outer edge of the wheel arch.
Bit more negative camber on the front was my initial reaction too!

Pair of ear plugs works great.

Seriously though, how low? Mine needs to have more than 65mm thread visible to not rub with CSLs, 235/35R19 tyres and a 10mm spacer. With 224s and the same spacing I know that 54mm ripped through the arches (because I had to replace them shortly after I bought it!).

Car doesn’t have stock geo though - camber pins are pulled and there’s a bit more negative travel to go, so I’d guess maybe -1.25 ish.

It's not that low. There's visible arch gap currently.
Need to get it on a ramp and get the geo checked, and possibly look at raising it.
It's got brand new Michelin PSS on it, which may not help currently.

I have KW Variant 2's and no rubbing - it's not scraping the floor though.
Coupe, KW coil overs, PSB limiters, Powerflex ARB bushes, 18" CSL reps, Aero skirts, ZHP leather knob, Whippy and proud. Probably needs a wash

I was considering some V3's but if they don't fit "plug & play" as it were, without having to make a load of associated changes, I'm not interested.
