Geometry settings for ZMC?

Post by hamza » Mon Mar 22, 2010 11:37 am

Hi,

I took my car to The Alignment Centre (NW London) last saturday as it was pulling very slightly to the left (apparently they all do this!?)

However unfortunately it now seems to be pulling even more to the left and the steering wheel isn't centred anymore...

They've agreed for me to bring it back in and they'll have another go, but before they do I was wondering if anyone has had a Geo setup done (esp if you havs CSL wheels on) and what settings you had it set to so I can pass this information on to them when they try again.

Thanks
Hamza

mine has genuine CSL wheels and i can honestly say ive got no pulling at all, the steering is also very smooth and responsive. my tyres all seem to wear even also, i think a proper geo set up and you'll be sorted.

have you ever had a geo setup done on your beedub?

If so could you give me the settigs yours was set to please?

I'm sure a geo setup will resolve the problem, I just want to be sure the right settings are used.

Afraid there's a fair bit of history on here about Z4Ms pulling to the left with varying degrees of success in alligning it out.

Mine does slightly, I had a full KDI done a year or so ago and has felt well balanced ever since, but does still stray very slightly if you take your hands off the wheel.

If I had my KDI results I'd post them but alas not.

no my car is on its factory settings, luckily its never bumped a kerb or had tyres wearing funny for me to need a geo setup, but their is definatly no pulling, and the tyres wear bang on, bmw should be able to do this for you but this is a huge but, theirs no point having just a normal geo setup, the car has to have weights put on the ,drivers seat, passenger seat, boot, to get a proper setup, once this is done you'll be sorted. let me know how you go.

Hi,

you're talking about a KDS setup and thats exactly what I had done by an independent specialist. They use exactly the same Hunter/ KDS equipment that BMW would use and loaded up the car with gallon containers of water to do the alignment....

still no joy though! hence me asking for the settings that people have if they have ever had this done :)

Hamza, PM me your email address and I'll send you a scan of the KDS done on my 56 plate Z4MC with CSL's by a BMW dealer. For your information my car didn't pull to the left before or after alignment.

Excellent thanks very much dgm! :)

Have sent you a PM with my email address. I also have a 56 plate Z4 MC on CSLs so hopefully that should be exactly what I need.

I've sent the details to you and if these settings don't correct your issues then there may be another underlying problem. I'm really pleased with the balance of my car and thats a year after getting the KDS done. The only time my handling didn't feel right was when I put on 275/30's at the rear which made the car feel twitchy at high speeds.

Want to share them with the rest of the forum? I'd like to take mine to Wheels in Motion, and it would be nice to have the correct settings to hand.

Brilliant, thanks.

Weirdly, as I went to paste this into my Google doc for my car, I found I already had it! Must have been posted before.

Is it worth making this thread a sticky? It's very useful info.

Did what I posted match what you had before?
