Sticky Clutch Pedal

Post by mitch » Wed Aug 18, 2010 4:54 pm

Hi guys - bit of a strange one this, but I thought I would ask here first..

really weird, but over the last week I have noticed my clutch pedal started to stick a bit just in the last inch or so ?

Is there anything to grease anywhere ?

notice it most pulling away on inclines, but does it on flat as well.

anybody else ever had this on their ///M

thanks

Sounds like it might also be slave cylinder.

mine does it when the car is still cold during warmup. after few miles it doesent happen. it only happens in first gear when moving from standstill. i wonder if it is slowly on its way.. i'm starting to save :D

I was talking to my local dealer about clutch wear, and they have had cases where clutches are replaced around 10k! I said he must be joking, but then he said most of them were women drivers keeping there foot on the clutch instead of the foot rest. A clutch every 10k is like a new clutch every year that is ridiculous, but also it depends on your driving style, lots of town driving can put excess wear and obviously riding the clutch. But in this case i dont think it sounds like a new clutch, more like a slave cylinder. To answer the other questions the clutches to squeak a little i used to think it was my seat.. dont really know about the clutch 'warming up' usually the gearbox in the Ms take a little while for it to stop being as notchy.

when i first drove my car home from picking her up from the dealers all those years ago my clutch pedal stuck to the floor, after managing to unstick it, i got home and re-bled the system, after that never had a problem, my mom thought i was mad, getting a new car and repairing it myself on the day of collection!!! lol........ thats pretty much how the love affair started!!!

May sound daft but mine was doing that, was the pedal getting caught on the floor mat.

I had that the other day...most embarrassing!

I took my 3.0Si to my Indie with this complaint. I was sure I'd checked that it wasn't the mat. But, sure enough, when I got there he took the mat right out and said: "Now try it!"

Sticky clutch pedal gone!

Anybody got a good solution to keep those thin BMW mats in place properly? The Velcro type original fixing doesn't seem great.

Pretty sure my 30RB is running a STi clutch.

TBH I dont like it much as the pedal effort seems a bit high. Time will tell if it lasts any longer than a std one.

I fitted a std clutch to a MY08 GT-B last week and the pedal was oh so light

Just drove from Plymouth to North Devon, through rain and some puddles.

Stopped at the in laws, got back in and the clutch is sticking at the lower 1/3 and goes away after a while?

Could this be damage from driving through water
