Well that option would certainly maintain the legend that is Flimper Spec, for sure :D

BTW, no offence intended Smudgers, your Exige is lovely
Keep seeing it referred to, but what the hell is "Flimper Spec" ? :?

I went all the way to 4th gear 8k then a little bit in 5 th gear but I chickened out not cos of speed but pigs. didnt want to be empounded for 2nd time... by the way the guy was driving i dont doubt he was pushing it 100%...

Have done this a few times with me in my M & my dad is his CS up to 130 there is absolutely nothing in it. But past 130 slowly pulls away.

Obviously all in KPH :P

Still prefer the CS tho.

Been against a few 997.1 CS/4s and thought the Z was marginally quicker although the .2 later ones have more power so may be quicker

The 997.1(S/4S) is roughly on a par, the 997 gen 2 S is noticeably quicker - pulled a few car lengths on me.... it did have PDK though and costs about 4 times as much as the Z.....

Z4M - where to go next?

Post by JAD » Thu Jul 20, 2017 12:05 pm

So a bit of a bump of one of the very many "where next" threads.

I have itchy feet. The car has been great, especially recently with the added Monkey Magic (modded exhaust back boxes). However, I feel I want more noise, occasion and sense of enjoyment from the car.

Having said that, the ///M does everything so well. Roof down in minutes, great handling, quick as needed and a decent boot/cabin.

So what's out there in budget (£25k)?

- TVR Cerb, Chimaera, Tuscan
- Porka Boxster (not a fan of the 911)
- SLK55
- SL55

Any input?

genuinely think its such a good platform your best to upgrade it, and maybe go for a used Hot hatch, you'll easily do all of that for 20k and still have the z4.

Supercharge it...all in for less than £10k, then spend the other £10k on suspension, brake upgrades & petrol/track days

That's my plan anyway...just need the supercharger fund to complete my plan!

If you need a car that's actually going to get you to your destination, then TVRs are out. I don't like the Boxster (back looks like the front.) SLK55 awesome engine, but still a bit hairdresserish. SL55 - a bit big.

I think that it's disappointing that the automotive industry hasn't produced anything aspirational in the mould of the Z4M in 9 years.

I think we are consigned to drive to our graves in our Zeds. Still, there's worse ways to go! :)
