By the external bypass mod, do you mean similar to the pipes we have from warren engineering. Mine are still sitting in the boot!gwatson wrote:My wife listened to me go down the street, she used the word hollow, not raspy... Either way it's very different to how it used to be. It's completely changed the characteristics of the sound. Whereas when I did it an external bypass mod with my S2000 it more or less stayed the same, just 20% louder.
I'd like to hear it myself from the outside.

i definitely get some form of popping sound from my exhaust, only when revved to top end and immediately release the throttle though, but it may not be popping from excess fuel? tested it on Sunday when exhaust was hot. confused.

I didn't realise you had fitted these? Might need to pop over and have a listen. Never heard them in real life before. Would be good to hear in person before I get mine fitted!

Ah ok, fair enough. I think I am going to add the bypass pipe mod onto my OEM boxes. Easy enough to change back to standard if I don't get on with them, but everyone seems to like them!jimmybell wrote:I havent :p ive just spent so long researching!

Re: OEM //M silencer mod
A few people have asked me about drone after the "Exdos induced" OEM muffler mod that I did. There is no drone at all. Here are some before and after videos:
The original vids that I posted, just click on the image for the video.

The sound quality isn't great but at least you get an idea.

The resonant boom or drone is mild but noticeable at a very narrow rev band of about 2k to 2.2k. Unfortunately bang on 30mph in 4th.

Mine will be going on in the spring. I relieved Mr Truman of these a couple of weeks ago.

I have them. They are great. A worthwhile mod and I think they sound a bit better once they are worn in a bit

Re: OEM //M silencer mod
I went for the over the top pipes, rather than the full gutting. The garage i used said they could easily be reversed if i didn't like the sound, so went with that option.Yorkie Z wrote:Rob did you have the internals modified or go for the bypass mod.?CornishRob wrote:I have them.
