Hey, ive just checked my owners manual and checked with a few internet sources and they confirm , fronts 18,45,225 and rears 18,40,255. But im sure there are multiple varients that can be used.Steve_R1979 wrote:Aren't the standard sizes 225/40 and 255/35???z4mroadster wrote:I also went back to the original sized tyres, front, 225, 45 and rear 255, 40 with Michelin pilot super sports.
I know they are the sizes I generally find when I google it and taken from another thread:
in my manual etc that the appropriate tyres for 18" wheels on mine should be...
Front - 225/40 18
Rear - 255/35 18
Having said that, my car is running the sizes given by the OP.....can anyone clarify this?

Re: "19 inch wheels to 18 inch my experience"
Hey, i havent noticed any issues yet and ive been hit some fast country roads at some enthusiastic speed......but I will monitour what you have said.i did check with apex and baan first before I confirmed my order, and they said it would be fine.apparentley apex wheels are some of the most compatible wheels you can buy for the z4mr with plenty of clearence. Also a rep at sytner said the z4mr comes with two general offset choices which they cater for with the tyer spec ive got, front 41 and 42 and rear 20 and 30, but obviously this can be modified down to personal preference.thanks for the info mate.Beedub wrote:OP..... only thing is i kinda think you've boo boo'd on the tyre size choice, for both tyres will have a slight stretch to them and the rims won't have any protection, i think you should have gone 235/40 and 265/35 respectively, you May find that 40 aspect ratio in the rear on an ET22 offset catches the fender lip/liner.... take the car on the fast bumpy b-road that gives full compression and report back.....

Out of interest, could you use your existing BMW centre caps? I like the wheels, but would look even better with them... prefer the OEM look.

Apex state the 18 inch apex wheels will clear up to 380mm bbk's on many applications.DONDP wrote:Very nice OP, you may have seen in other threads I have been considering the move back down to 18s from the CSLs. Any chance I could ask a cheeky favour and get you to check clearance if I sent you a template?
not sure if this helps mate.

Thats buddy, I just keep getting different information. I am sure the barrel is large enough as I can get my OEM 18s over them. Just concerned the spokes may foul them depending on the offset.z4mroadster wrote:Apex state the 18 inch apex wheels will clear up to 380mm bbk's on many applications.DONDP wrote:Very nice OP, you may have seen in other threads I have been considering the move back down to 18s from the CSLs. The fitment guide from AP can be downloaded from here : http://www.apracing.com/Drawings/P16230.pdf
It is a wheel off affair to check fitment but would really appreciate it. If your near to me and you don't mind i can even pop over with the necessary equipment to check.

Re: "19 inch wheels to 18 inch my experience"
Just added up that I could save 13.8kg by fitting the following wheels
APEX-EC7 8.5 ET38
APEX-EC7 9.5 ET35
The ARC-8's with the same width\offset would save 17.78kg!!
That's a significant weight saving, plus the fact it's unsprung weight too!
Please post more pictures once you get the centre caps in this weekend

I will do as soon as there on, those weight savings are huge ,17.7kg is a significant reduction in weight when it comes to performance, and according to the unsprung weight calculation that would be a saving of around 234lbs inside the car, that's like losing an extra passenger!!!gwatson wrote:Just added up that I could save 13.8kg by fitting the following wheels
