Waiting for or wanting a Gruppe M? This is what you'll get..

Post by AndyBeech » Tue Nov 04, 2014 8:40 pm

Went out for a drive with my new cam today, its not amazing but less than half the price of a GoPro (SVC200). Plus, you can plug in an external mic easily which is what I really wanted. So I got the mic connected up, threaded it under the bonnet onto the suspension turret just behind the Gruppe M and went out for little drive. Quite happy with the results, no wind noise on the mic really as positioned under the bonnet. If your waiting for, or in two minds about getting a Gruppe M, this is the kind of noise you can expect, go montage! Enjoy!

May do some more tomorrow with the mic repositioned right on top of the Gruppe M, see how that sounds! Put the camera external as well for a better picture and take a drive round Chedder Gorge, get the sound bouncing off the cliffs! :driving:

Can you get them direct from Japan?? Literally searched the hell out of it when I wanted mine and only 'authorised' sellers could get them in the UK.....as far as I could find anyway....

You could always get them in Japan, Sixspeed got his direct as well. Just a gamble on exchange and customs of course. He saved quite a bit by buying direct.

Sounds awesome. They should be here soon. Group buy price was £645+ postage.

Fair do's. Obviously I didn't look hard enough! On the other hand £645 is a very good price, you've done well there to get it at that

 your welcome Chris
It is epic, I remember the first time I heard an E46 M3 CSL when I was just a teen driving an AX GT, I always wanted that engine and that sound, there's nothing else like it. And the Z4M with a Gruppe M is 90% there without spending £2000+ on a remap and an airbox. There will always be split opinion on whether the Gruppe is worth the money it goes for but for me its worth every penny. Quiet as the standard airbox when your just day to day driving and then all hell breaks loose when you give it some decent throttle. Love it :)
The S54 engine is truly one of the best BMW have ever produced in my eyes.
