Interesting Sutts. Congratulations or commiserations, I'm not sure which should apply!
I'm thinking of putting my Imola Red Z4M Coupe up for sale which is a 2007 car with 31,700 miles on it and which I've owned for nearly 10 years. I was thinking of putting it up for £24,995 as the car has full BMW Main Dealer Service History and a current BMW Comprehensive Insured Warranty. The fact your car has sold so quickly at £25,000 says it all for a superb car with low miles.
I'm not 100% convinced I'm doing the right thing though as I bought a 997 911 C2S to replace the Z4MC but find it a little tame after the livewire Z4M experience, even though the C2S has a PSE and sounds a bit mental at full chat!
Hope you don't miss yours too much!

I have been following the market recently, and i don't understand how all the Z4MC are roughly £20,000-£22,000 regardless of mileage. Sellers are requesting the same amount for one with 107,000 miles as with one on 63,000 miles. Are they just chancers hoping for a nibble? As the turn over doesn't seem to be that high, over the last 2 months I have seen the same cars still available.
Is the market inflated right now? or have they been organically increasing over the last 12 months?
I am looking at buying one April next year, but if the prices are on the rise, then I would make the leap sooner rather than later. If anybody has some historical data that would be awesome!

Asking prices are not always a reflection of actual selling prices but i wouldn't expect to drive one away for under £18k with sub 90k miles IF its a decent examplecrustyclown777 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2017 10:44 am I have been following the market recently, and i don't understand how all the Z4MC are roughly £20,000-£22,000 regardless of mileage. I wouldn't say the ///Market had changed much over the last 18months , right cars , right spec , right history will always sell if reasonable priced in the current market ( MR or MC )
Your problem if you pick a window to buy will be choice & prices at the time will dictate what you will have to pay to own one , if i was in your position id formulate a plan to watch the market from December onwards , view as many as possible that you can realistically get to & be ready to buy at any point that the right car wafts under your nose best of luck

A chap on pistonheads shared some data with me. He's been tracking advertised prices of Z4MCs since 2014. Hopefully he won't mind me sharing this but as he was openly offering to anyone I assume he won't. Thanks again Spencer if you see this!

Thanks - I am very sorry to see it go, and my wife is genuinely quite upset/angry about it going!nickw6666 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 23, 2017 12:00 am Interesting Sutts. Congratulations or commiserations, I'm not sure which should apply!

A friend of mine had a similar gen 1 997 C2S to yours and we drove them back to back last year. The Porsche was a lovely car and obviously very capable, but dare I say it just a little boring in comparison to the MC. He is a part-time racing instructor and got out of my car with the words "that engine!!"
I am happy with the price achieved by mine as a private sale, but was confident that the condition, history and spec justified it and that would become clear once viewed in person by a genuine buyer. When a 1M on the same miles is being advertised at £45-50k it makes it makes our cars look like good value!
As for where the market is heading, in five years time I think a really good low mileage (30-50 thousand miles) MC will be a solid £30k if not more for the best examples.

The increasing price is probably what saved my 150k miler from being written off in 2016 (the little red dot on the far bottom right was probably the 130k/£13k one I used as my baseline with the insurer assessor).
A couple of months earlier, or a few grand less and it would have been 'salvage'.

Nice. Some great additions. Suspect there is a bargain to be had if people are put off by the mods and/or distance.Beedub wrote: ↑Mon Jun 26, 2017 10:39 pm really nice spec car here....

The changes to the car seem very much in keeping, and the parts of the car that generally need updating to bring the car where it should have always been without going to the extremes of say my car which would put off most buyers. Thats a lovely spec, with some really nice work done to it, if done to a high standard that car will feel ace. Whoever put that together did well.MrPT wrote: ↑Tue Jun 27, 2017 8:50 pmNice. There are a lot of mods to that car, and some people, will be put off as it takes the car some way from standard so if they want to maintain a warranty might be tricky.
But of course there are many that will view the mods as a positive and then it will be a very attractive proposition at that price with those mods that people may have been thinking of adding themselves after buying a car.
I think with the market its a case of horses for courses! The Z4M was made in relatively low numbers and really is an enthusiasts car as we all know being quite hard edged.
So IMO good, well maintained cars should always sell well regardless of the mods, provided they have been specified and fitted correctly of course. It just might be that a heavily modified car will appeal to a certain enthusiast sub-group in the market and that can be a good thing as that group recognises that cars of that type are even rarer than the standard cars.
In terms of the market, it also creates a nice dual category for Z4M's, modified and unmodified, which considering the numbers means that within each category there are even less cars available than the total number!

The 997 C2s...
Owned a 997 4S and a major thing to look out for is the sooting up of the exhausts, this indicates an issue with one of the cylinders and if it goes 'pop' its a 10k fix. My advice... get it checked!

How come there are cars that are still sat there which look great buy unsold and been around for months.
I has to be more than just spec surly?
