goon wrote: Tue May 16, 2017 3:56 pm Looks like mine is going to a dealer, had the usual timewasters and email "oh god I'm so bored in the office today" merchants, only had 3 private buyer phone calls despite the advert on here for 3 weeks. A dealer will readvertise with a warranty and the necessary price increase and some people will then accuse them of being greedy. You can't have it all ways chaps.
I think the talk of low end rebuilds as a precaution and running in service scaremongering hasn't helped the cause. People like me who are not that mechanically minded or confident with a spanner are scared off by the perceived pitfalls of the M. I bought my MR last mouth as an AUC and paid top dollar for low miles and the AUC warranty. Im sure to many I paid too much and it isn't worth it however to me, I wouldn't have bought one without the peace of mind of AUC and as these cars get older yet still command high values more people will think that way.
You'll be keeping the warranty up then when it comes to renewal?
I probably will do although it will depends on their renewal terms. Maybe after knowing the car for a year I'll be confident enough not to want it and put the money aside , (around a grand I should imagine) for any issues that arise, but it is nice to have that option. Also if I wanted to move it on in a year or two (not my intention but you never know what's around the corner) I would expect it to sell much easier while an AUC, another bonus but I doubt I would get my premium back on the sale price.

I think it will cost you over £1,200 per year.

TBF I was a little nervous when I got mine. Vanos was the worry going round then. I have 5 1/2 years now so that's about £6,500K saved.

I've just replaced the Battery, ignition switch and one O2 sensor which has cost me around £200 all in.

So even with some major work I should still be quids in.

The first year was my biggest worry as I always assume the worse and people change a car because there is something wrong with it. It's only done 31k and I'll add maybe 4-5k a year to that so I would hope it's a long way from big bills. I did 3k in the first month and it didn't miss a beat so I'm already a lot more confident.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not made of money and I wont be handing over that sort of money easily after a year, we'll just have to see what the next 12 months holds

I remember when my Z4MC came out out AUC warranty and the renewal was £3200 a year IIRC...

Was on 72k at the time.. I graciously declined BMW's kind offer..

I've been renewing mine for those exact same reasons, and bought AUC for the same resaon also. I saw arguably a better example than mine privately at the time, less miles, had just had the front end tidied up but I didn't have enough in the bank to throw at the car if anything went wrong immediately after purchase. ironically.. my Z went back to a dealer and spent a month there whereas I bet the non AUC car would have been fine

Prices are still looking strong! Good and bad i guess, it means if we sell, we will unlikely justify being able to get into one though.

This has been around a good number of weeks , can't say i like the carbon int trim tweaks but that wouldn't put me off if it ticked out on viewing / driving .
For whatever reason its not sold & open to offers from £11995 ( 06 83k Inty MR)
This could make a great weekender if you only plan to add 2k/3k per year
Need to see where its at in the service sequence but i would expect at worse a Ins1 ,
A cheeky £10500/ £10750 could see someone into ///Motoring for Si money

I'm wondering if I should finally get rid of mine towards the end of this year as I'll have had it for 10 years! I've been paying for the extended warranty for the last 7 years -- is it transferable to a new owner? I'm paying monthly.

This would be tempting if you could deal with the hassle of moving it on again.

That's always going to be the problem with cat d.
Lacking service history won't help either.

Where does it say history is missing?

BMW phone line might be able to provide some if not all if that is the case.

Must have been serious damage to be written off at 1 year old.
