Coolant Change POLL

I've had the car for 7 years and I'm still not sure, so.. How have you dealt with the coolant change?

Personally, I've had one change in Nov 2010, and my local indie said it didn't need to be done unless there was an issue, so haven't done it since.

No, there is no service schedule for coolant since BMW changed it to lifetime.

Mine's done every year, as part of my annual inspection 2 (not bothering with inspection 1s - just doing a couple of oil services and an I2 every year).

Although with my reduced usage, I might have to revisit that schedule :P

I had mine done with inspection 2. Wasn't a massive cost at all really

I have mine done every 4 years, for the cost it's a no brainier I think.

Even though I suspect the coolant is lifetime and doesn't need to be changed, it's bothering me that a new buyer in the future will hold my lack of changes against me. Might just get this done anyway for peace of mind.

I've got a tool which tests coolant & lets you know what temperatures it's still effective for, it must measure the specific gravity or similar?
Replaced on my previous zed due to water pump replacement, I will probably change it on my present car every 5 years or so.

Having read this and the thread to with Perry provided a link, I am going to get my indie to change the coolant when it goes in for an oil service in a couple of months' time. With >100k on the clock and no evidence of the coolant being changed before it just feels like a sensible thing to do.

Asked Will at TWG about this again today while it was in for a brake fluid service and he said it currently measures -37c and assured me it didn't need doing. I'm sure he wouldn't turn down the work if it was necessary and I'm going with his judgement that it is lifetime.
