Brakes not using all the disc

But, what is the fix? New discs, pads and calliper refurb?

in your case i think a refurb of the caliper will do the job, strip down and investigate, its super easy to do , clean off rust, copper grease moving parts and see what happens.

Was hoping you'd like to give it a go Marc!

It'll go to the indi in town. I like slowing down too much to trust myself. Rather, I like booting it and want the ability to slow down!

Yea, that's the one.

Like I said, no tools (all in storage). Just a pain to go get them all, and find space/time to do it all. Then the fact that I'd be doing it.

An other topic made me check pricing on CP4L and I can get a rear discs & pads for £237.15. Think I'll get them and just get a indi to fit them. Should only be 2 hours max. May even get the fronts as well! £338.59 for the front setup, and surely will need them within the year.

I think these would help, they reduce the amount of flex at the calliper https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-Z4-sDrive ... 016_21757/

I know, I have done it before! I just don't have any tools (in storage) and no where flat to work (current gravel drive). For the sake of £100 in labour, I may as well get them to do it.

A little update. It seems as thought the pad is now levelling off, as the markings on the disc are going down. Obviously I'm not braking so hard with the weather as is, so it's taking time. I'm noticing a 'rough' brake feel, so I'm assuming it's just the rust being taken off the surface.
