Brake Lines

Post by Tusk » Mon Mar 27, 2017 12:59 pm

Hi guys

My M Roadster brake lines are looking a bit worse for wear - figure I am as well changing them all out just now to keep it fresh.

Where is best to get replacements at the moment that will actually have stock - any links? Are they same for the 2.5Si (I think so based on realOEM...)

I believe it is a 6 pipe system as standard but most seem to be 4 pipe. Not sure I want to go fiddling around with it too much but happy to take advice on that. I am also guessing I am as well to go with braided lines as OEM ones are actually more expensive it seems.

Thanks

Give HEL a try, they'll do you a S/S set for a competitive price (Either custom to your dimensions and required end fittings, Or an off the shelf pre made kit).

As a guide I had some made up for the rears of my Si as single lines, doing away with the intermediate steel pipe attached to the trailing arm - Just over 50 quid delivered.

Thanks for that - I was put off as assumed lead time for them would be extreme. Phoned them up and am getting them on Wednesday! Cheers

EBC sell stainless steel braided hoses now in addition to their brake products.

They look to be pretty good and are specific to the Z4M.

Would be interested to hear how much of a difference they make.

Do you know what length they are?

I had some made for my Brembos but they made the E46 M3 dimension for some reason which means the lines are routed above the control arms which isn't ideal.

Think they run over the lower arm.
Plus mine aren't on at mo
4 pot brembos on rear once here
Buy can measure the lines in morning buddy

That would be great

Routing them above the arms could lead to the lines potentially failing with the suspension movements. I was advised this would need to be changed to the OEM routing if possible by the garage that fitted them.

I've got the Stoptech lines, fit spot on and combine the rear two hose setup in to one.
