Hoping it's just been a dud battery, will suck up the cost as I have no paperwork and pray it's not the alternator.

Want the M to be something I can just jump in when I want & rely on it working. Awful feeling not trusting it right now.

I left my CTEK on all winter, assuming it was the right thing to do vs turning it off & on, but the battery was fine leaving it for a 2 week holiday but failed to hold its charge in a week. All confusing.

Price is never a problem, just the value equation , it needs it to work, so it's just a cost of running a car.

I've just returned from a 60 mile A/B road drive in my MC - first time out since I think September
No wonder it's still only on 30,000 miles!
It had been on a Ctek charger all that time, on what I suspect is the original 10 year old battery. Fortunately no issues arose apart from the stability control systems sensor appears to have died over the winter as I had the appropriate warning lights on almost immediately. Didn't affect the drive start from some unintentional wheel spin out of a couple of junctions. Will get my local Indy to look at it soon - anyone else experienced the same?

Don't use ECP, without discounts they are overpriced. Check Tanya or batterymegastore. If all you purchased was the battery and you did it by card then a bank statement is enough proof of purchase.

You shouldn't need an AGM unit unless you have stop-start, a good non-AGM battery should be well under £100, keep away from cheap Chinese made stuff and any brand you have heard of are often made in the same factory e.g. Varta are Bosche etc

Guessing I must have put it on credit card & my online banking doesn't go back that far. Looks like I will have to just pay for it then.

Got a friend dropping off a multi meter today, and took the CTEK off yesterday so will see what the charge is like tonight if I get home from work at a decent time. Tempted to just order a battery so that if it is simply the battery, I can get out in the M over Easter.

Surely must be battery rather than alternator, as would a car be able to travel on just its battery for 20 miles without dying?!

I was only going AGM as it was what it came with from the factory.

Found a Bosch AGM one for £130 ish, so not too bad.

Which model of CTEK do you recommend for our cars/batteries in terms of value for money? I could actually do with buying four so cost is a consideration!
