Air Con Failure

Post by Justino » Mon May 29, 2017 11:59 am

So, came to use the car after it being not used for a few months, and the aircon is blowing warm. I had it regassed last year, not because it needed it, but as a precaution really to top the oil content up. I recall it had lost something like 15-20% according to the weight of gas that was removed, which I thought was good given it had lasted 8 years.

I'm wondering if something wasn't tightened up correctly and its leaked out, or perhaps a leak totally un-connected. So options are to get it regassed and hope for best, or delve a little deeper. I have INPA so wondering if there are any tests I can run etc? If they do leak, where is the most likely area they leak?

Do you have the air-con switched on all the time, or only when it's warm?

I was told to leave it on at all times to ensure the seals don't perish through lack of lubrication, and mine's still cold after 11 years and 150,000 miles.
