Weight OEM vs. CSL wheels

Post by Argenta » Mon Jun 12, 2017 1:02 pm

Dunno if I've seen one before..
So I took out the bathrrom scale. Here goes:

OEM:
Slightly worn (60-70%) Michelin Pilot Sport
235/40-18 & 265/35-18

Average weight
Fronts: 22.4kg
Rears: 24.4kg

CSL (Atomic reps from BM Autosport):
Almost new Michelin Supersport
235/35-19 & 265/35-19.

Average weight
Fronts: 22,25kg
Rears: 23.4kg

So despite being 19" they're actually not heavier than OEM. :)
People will notice my OEM wheels have wider tires but they are also smaller diameter so in reality should be lighter than std 225/255 ones.
And the rear CSL's has 265/35-19 which are heavier than 265/30-19.
Anyway for comparing 18" and 19" the same width seems logical.

Weight OEM vs. CSL wheels

Seems very similar! :)
(having in mind you have smaller/lighter 19" tires)
And those were OEM CSL's?

I only did my Atomic CSL's as new, without tires:
Front: 12.1kg
Rear: 12.4kg

Seems you don't save that much weight using OEM CSL's.

Yes gen CSL's
I didn't do it for the weight saving as it's almost insignificant and I'd be surprised if anyone could notice the difference, I changed because they are one of the best looking rims.......... ever :P
