New Boxster looks lovely hope you enjoy it.

Interlagos Blue is one of my favourite colours for a Z4M. It's certainly high on my list of colour choices along with Sepang if I ever get myself into a Z4M.

Update on my transition to a Porker.

Its less grunt and more of a refined ride in the Boxster. Im missing the GruppeM from the Z but the gurgle of the Porshe sports exhaust is easing my pain. The 3.4 is a responsive engine and it has the power when applied. The ride is slightly higher than the Z which isn't as good. There seems to be more kudos with the Porshe with fellow Boxster drivers eagerly flashing as we pass as with 911's and a Ferrari! loads of nooks n crannys for storage in the Porshe. My first mod will be a Kenwood Audio upgrade (DNX5170DABS) and followed by a steering wheel enhancement from Royal Steering wheels http://royalsteeringwheels.com/

Its a better looking car, for sure and I have no regrets with my change of direction. A quick search for my Z on Autotrader revealed the going rate for Z4M's was between 13k and 16k ! WoW

Did you do anything to check for bore scoring before you bought it?

IMS gets all the attention but Hartech are now doing far more work to rectify bore scoring than IMS plus it's more involved and costly.

I wouldn't think there would be more kudos with a Boxster than a ZM with fellow car geeks like us (although I agree it's a better car in 9/10 ways). Car people love my MC, it constantly gets looks, attention and intriguing questions that belies it's 10-year-old BMW number plate..."never seen one of those before" is the typical starter....

Sadly I never experienced that kudos in my Z and as you say you need to be a car geek to know what the Z4M is all about.

I looked for the tell tale signs of bore scoring but feel reasonably confident with this car as its a MK2. Only 5% suffered bore scoring on the MK1's as well, so id take the concern with a pinch of salt. If you google any illness you will see threads n threads on the topic, but how many people suffer the disease...same as bore scoring Imo. Obviously its an issue if you have the problem..

A little comparison after owning the Boxster for a few weeks.

Z4M = A thai hooker, not always the best looking but will do all the bad stuff and leave you with a big grin..
Boxster = A Swedish hooker, looks stunning and leaves a pleasing smile on the face but doesn't do the dirty stuff..

I really don't see the 987 as a good looking car, it's overhangs look weird, especially now the 981 is common place. Personally I don't see that car aging well... :fuelfire:
