AGM batteries serve no purpose in our cars. Only really needed where stop start technology is used.

AGM batteries are also not vented. I don't believe the OEM batteries for the Z4 were ever AGM.
True though I do vaguely remember posts in the past when I was looking for a new battery mentioning that the OEM battery was AGM. I could be wrong, but would be nice to be confirmed by someone. If the car had a charging map designed for an AGM battery then I guess it could make some sort of difference.....
AGM for £130 though is good if you can get one now for that. Expect from BMW will be a lot more!
I could be wrong, but everything on the net says agm non vented and can be fitted in any position, i.e. Upside down even.

Our alternator isn't smart like stop start cars so no point in spending extra when there is no benefit.

I'm sure it is an AGM....

and according to this post.... looks like it may be, maybe the earlier AGM had a vent and different stipulations? ... anyhow it seems someone has found what the battery is actually labelled up as before bmw stick their stickers all over it and charge triple.

Deffo AGM as my old one in garage and new one in car
Has a small vent pipe in rear and states agm on battery buddy

Some prefer old school but me with AGM battery you benefit from it's design of the stop start generation

So short journeys/ weekend car etc
Suits this battery type I feel as hold charge longer and may be charges quicker for repeated starting

But to both guys with issues
A: as per my first post check battery voltage 12.4v cold
14.9v charging or there about if not this may be your point of call plus why buy a cheap unknown battery

Spend a bit more and get a better one as issues are long when poops
