Best Thermos flask
So my good ladyfriend Laura and I enjoy walking long distances in the great outdoors and there's no greater pleasure in life than to arrive back at the car after a good 20km hike and crank up a nice brew.
I used to take a black Thermos with us but I dropped it and it's basically knackered. It worked great but the one I use now is crap. Water goes warm after just 2 hours. Pants.
Any recommendations?
I was alerted to the fact that the one I had my eye on recently has come down in price by a whopping €0.20 to €38.61 at amazon.de.
Sorely tempted to drop some hard-earned but would love to hear any recommendations for flasks, sarcastic or otherwise....
I can see them coming....like that scene in Lawrence of Arabia with the longshot of the camel riding towards the camera taking about 15 mins. Just like that. The sarcasm...arriving from afar...in the distance...
Hoping to hear one or even two recommendations amongst the impending drivel.....

Thx Mike.
Yeah, researched the 12v kettles but they all take 20mins+ to boil and if you know Lau she doesn't like to wait for anything that long! lol
I've never ever watched a film with her without her skipping right to the end - cos she just couldn't wait. Pointless, and the same applies for warm beverages, she just hasn't got time to wait around for a slow kettle.

Definitely buy branded and I've lost count of the glass flasks that have broken or lost the vacuum over the years(can you still actually find glass flasks BTW?)
Had these 2 in use 5 days a week for a long time now...Coffee & soup in the little yin.....Still hot after 8 hours.Think I got them from TK Maxx.

The wife and I are out and about most weekends. She has the ultimate insulation thermos and it's an excellent bit of kit.
I'm guessing you preheat the flask before you fill it with your chosen brew. Something else I do if I'm going out for a long day in the hills I heat the milk too as that helps keep it hot for longer.
I also have a jetboil zip, not cheap but it's compact, versatile and very light. I'm carrying the water anyway so all I need is a bit of coffee and some milk.

I use a Thermos all stainless flask. Preheated it keeps drink hot all day and for me the bonus is that I can sling it in the jeep down the side of the seat and regardless of the abuse of off roading it will never break or leak.
Drinks usually still too too hot by time I want it...

'Jetboil zip' that sounds interesting?Dave1971 wrote:The wife and I are out and about most weekends. She has the ultimate insulation thermos and it's an excellent bit of kit.

Not quite what you want but I have a bodum metal cup which keeps my coffee hot for up to 3 hours. Only £20 and it includes a coffee plunger so you can use fresh grounds! Much better than the plastic ones!
It's great for driving with the top down!

Went for the Jetboil Zip - thanks for that tip Dave1971!
Getting into camping gear territory now and def not cheap but it solves the problem 100%
Also went for a Thermos thermocafe for those quick trips out - no.1 bestseller on amazon and seems to have a lot of good reviews.

Jetboils are used/praised widely across any outdoor hobby/sport/career/miliary. top bits of kit.
Personally prefer my MSR Pocket Rocket, just for size's sake really. Same thing without the combined/paired pan.

I use a Jetboil when going on canoe expeditions. They are very good, but only use it to boil water, if you try soup or food it will burn the bottom of the jetboil cup. Very quick boil time though. I have a titanium mug with a brewkit in it so all I need is hot water!
When white water kayak, I will take a Thermos steel King flask. They do a 1.2 and .47l. I have the 1.2l. It sits in the boat all day, close to ice cold water (sometimes in it if I get it wrong), gets thrown around and generally abused, and will be hot still 8 hours later when I disembark. £24 from Argos.
