'Ultimate Cup Holder' for e85/6 z4 £25

Post by Danza » Tue Jan 10, 2017 11:08 pm

Solution to the annoying lack of cupholders in (some) z4 cars. Much more stable then the stock ones and take 10 seconds to fit (slots under trim).
Took it out of the car before taking a photo but here's an example:

Yes they're only $25 on the website but it actually works out to $47 by the time it's shipped to the UK

£25 + postage or collect from twickenham/central london

Perfect condition

I've had this cheapy stuff before. Doesn't compare to a quality item, much like the Zed. From memory you can't get it to mould round the door card / trim, to get it to slot into the window. It's designed for a narrow trim and the Zed or any other BM is wider. Also the cheap plastic breaks easily. If you want to do it right then this is a good option IMO.

Machine Monkey made one? Missed that one... will it be going into 'mass' production like exhaust tips?

I have been known to make these on request.
My little blue zed is in lots of bits. With lots of things started and not many finished! I may have found the limits of my time and ability!!

Some time later...

Any option for a E89 using this design? I spoke to the "ultimate cup holder" chap who was good enough to reply the following:

"Unfortunately they changed the interior in the later model Z4s so that the height to the trim at the side of the console is a little too tall for the holder to work as well. You may be able to kinda-sorta make it work but not as it should. Wouldn't really want to recommend that."

I can still here the 'clink' of my travel mug rattling around the cupholder on my E85 now if I concentrate. Also amazed it was still in one piece after catching it every time it contained a cup both entering and exiting the car. Grrr.

Did I mention I prefer the E89 at any point?

Looks good - need Mr Monkey to fire up the production line again but I know he's busy at the moment with his car/life.

Classic first world problem isn't it, cup holders in our cars!
