The high cost is due to the custom made assembly that replaces the ashtray which houses the gauges.

love the way you lot get all Miss Marple on finding out where those gauges were from, even though i had written at the beginning that they were the Leatherz... :D :D
Anyway - yes, serious money spent on these things, the ashtray was pricey and took like 3weeks or something to get done, also got whacked with US tax on the postage etc... then the Stack gauges were something like 50quid each... the fitting, sweet lord that was a nightmare as well. i gave up doing it myself as the fittings that were supplied by Stack were the wrong size to what BMW use. So... sent to my mates over at Phoenix Garage to finish the job properly. they fitted hydraulic hoses, and a list of other parts that were as long as your arm... ugh. anyway it had a oil service and EML light to fix so got the whole lot done in one go. looks like they got a new induction hose and replaced a collapsed brake servo hose etc etc....

All in all a nightmare but well worth it and it will remain with me for another heart until i get bored and do something else. Magic.

marksdesigns, just wondering why you did not take the gauges that LeatherZ supplies which come with all the need parts for an install. I had mine installed by my local BMW dealer and it took them about 5 hours as I recall.

WLH - I thought i could get them cheaper elsewhere, also i wanted some branded gauges and the ones at Leatherz looked a bit too OEM... although, in the time it took to get the job done i changed my mind and the car is going more OEM than street racer - so yes, should have got the dials kit from Leatherz. doh! :headbang:
