So after buying my Z4 3.0 a few weeks ago i wanted to to get the roof to open and close by using the remote key.
After reading a few posts on here i ordered the cable and software from ebay and foolishly tried to install it without reading the insturctions properly! Anyway i swallowed my pride and started again and intsalled the software step by step.
Got Inpa to work... which is great but the one i wanted was sss or at least ncs expert which just doesnt seem to work, same error message...
ntvdm.exe has stoppped working
Is this becuase my aptop is 64 bit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

NCS Expert will also run on Windows 7 32 bit.
Only NCS Expert will set your key to remote opening but you don’t necessarily need a new laptop! You have two other options.
First is to buy a new copy of Windows 7 but the 32 bit version, wipe your hard disk and re-install the OS. But please check to see if the drivers you need to get it running correctly eg network card, video driver ate available. In my case they weren’t as my laptop (Toshiba Sat Pro) was only ever available as a 64 bit system.
Second is again to buy the 32 bit version but not wiping the system. Use Disk Management (found in Computer Management) after you select Manage when right clicking on the 'Computer' Icon on your desktop to 'Shrink' your Hard Disk, install the 32 bit version on a new partition and have a dual boot laptop. You can find detailed instruction on the Internet see

I don't know how much a copy of Win 7 32-bit costs, but I bought a reasonably decent spec second-hand laptop running XP for £130, and I now have it as a dedicated "car PC".

You don't need to go to such extremes as wiping and buying new software.
Just set up a VM on the machine and install the software on the VM, When I got my cable it came with instructions on exactly how to do that.

Thanks for the tip guys, as my laptop is n vista and has a pretty pathetic battery life im thinking to get a dedicated machine and use it just for that purpose.
So from what im reading an older laptop running xp would be be ideal?

Are you using Virtual PC (Microsoft) and XP Mode? If so XP Mode is not available in the home edition of Win 7 (32 or 64 bit)
