Z4 and a submarine

Postby JBZ4 - Sun Jul 13, 2008 4:58 pm

JackB1 drove up to our place for the weekend, and with his move this will probally be the last time for the Z's together except for Homecoming. We carpooled up to my work, and wound up getting a few shots with my Z. We have taken some other shots before, but no one was around this time and I took the liberty of getting up close and personal. I threw in a few other shots.

Great pics of my old boat! The memories, Gold crew, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard refit, 6 deterrent patrols, Charleston offcrew. I spent many sweaty hours in that sail doing antenna maintenance.

That is way too cool. We had the sail for a while before we managed to get everything set in place. it really came out great and it is a real photo stop for anyone who visits the base.

No. Only the sail (conning tower) is from the actual sub. The rest is concrete shaped to look like a sub surfacing.

I drive by the sub every day, and I thought what the hell that would make a great picture. The sail is from the actual submarine, the rest is a concrete foundation. The nicest surprise is that I recieved two emails from forum members who actually served time on this sub.
