I gave it four deep cleans just to get the slime out of it!

Can't tell right now it's hammering it down! I left the soap on overnight so will apply the protection when the rain stops, I did think it'd been done it was looking pretty good, might be in need of a re dye!

The old halogen licence plate lamps will be listed for sale, they could do with a clean but they're all working and I didnt break the clips removing them

Is there a specific version for the Alpina? Or does the 3.0i M54 version fit?
There is no specific Alpina version. The one listed on the GruppeM website for the Alpina is exactly the same one listed for the 3.0l and shares the same part number. I was a bit worried when I saw this on the outside of the box when it arrived but then having checked, they are in fact exactly the same for both variants.

Just noticed that there is in fact a pre-facelift and facelift version though so just be aware of that. The one that fits the Alpina is the pre-facelift version. The facelift version - https://jp.gruppemdirect.com/en-eu/prod ... 4b7e&_ss=r is slightly different. On pre-facelift cars the MAF housing is able to be unclipped from the airbox whereas on facelift cars it isn't so GruppeM provide an early or late version accordingly. On the facelift version you would remove your MAF from the old airbox and install it into the custom housing that they provide in the kit.

Rubbed them down and sprayed with chrome enamel paint from Halfords. A good 3 coats and they turned out great.
Then I spray tinted the lenses with a dark smoke.
Got some tiger seal and sealed them back together. No water or moisture is getting through that stuff.
I'm hoping to seal mine later.. how mcuh tiger seal did you use and do you have any tips? Presumably neatness is a low priority? What sort of diameter sealant would you use? Thin toothpaste? Is it easier to use too much or too little?

Just a bead in the channels. Half of what you would get out of the toothpaste

Thanks. Will take your advice!

My "bumper off to sort the headlight washer leak and sort condensation in NS headlight" is now about a week into what I think will be two weeks off the road. Washer leak sorted, headlight de-condensationed, two foglights refurbed (but lenses still to go back on).

Today I have removed and sanded the strut behind the grill and the bonnet retainer bracket, ready for painting. Also sanded some rust spots on the chassis beneath where the top of the bonnet is bolted ready for rust treatment and repainting. I have what seems to be a common crack on the bonnet between the two kidney grills and I bought a plastic welding kit - still considering the best way of strengthening the area to the rear of the bonnet where it's racked before rectifying the visual fault to the front. Still waiting for a new headlight washer cap (for visual effect only, I am not going to buy one or two new headlight washers the car needs because I don't see they add anything at all to the car). And that'll need painting before going on. I want to do it before the bumper goes on because I want to fix it from behind and opposed to gluing it - I want it to be as easy as possible if myself or a future owner decides they want the washers working.

Past its MOT today, advisory re oil on outside of gearbox? couldn't give me a clear answer as to what it might be except it would need wiping off and then waiting. They managed to break my drivers seat belt guide again, been putting off buying one as it has been okay since glueing it together last year. Now is the time to get one I think

New ground cable put in today (courtesy of the AA, not me :D )
Couldn't get the starter motor to start even though it was brand new.
Transpires it was a corroded cable.

Got an alignment done after fitting new suspension. It's pretty aggressive for dual duty driving but I think it will be fine:

Front Camber: 3.0 degrees
Front Toe: 0.08 degrees total
Rear Camber: 2.0 degrees
Rear Toe: 0.12 degrees total

Now time to get out there and test it :driving:
