I think we're all in that slightly down / going home mood - considering the highs we've experienced on this trip it's hardly surprising. I intend to write a bit more and post some more pics from the many hundreds we have.
Despite some frustrating traffic & diversions yesterday we did make some decent progress on the 'Bahn with even mrs jax hitting 210kph - I seen 240kph at one point too. Thunder looks to have eased but roads likely to be well greasy after the 40 degree heat yesterday -on board tyre pressures rose to 39 (from33).
Looking forward to one proper pint on the ferry - some of the German beers have been disappointingly small and not as cold as needed. Last night in Cologne was fun with a fantastic party atmosphere - we all celebrated with an ice cream and a longish walk home. Earlier mrs jax and I enjoyed a very cool swim at Neptunbad.
Packing up for ferry soon.

13 days, 6 countries, 5 cars, 2 boats, 12 hotels, 3000 miles, 3500 pics, hundreds of hairpins, thousands of feet, 4 car museums, 2 car factories, 3 squeaky bum moments, no arguments, too much food and drink, endless scenery, 1/4 of oil, 4 walkie talkies, 8 great friends. One of the best experiences of my life. We're home!
Wish we were still going but what a journey, just incredible.

Well thats the Northern car home on the driveway in Aberdeenshire , 2800 miles since last Wednesday and I managed to squeeze another Museum in on the way home in the quiet Borders town of Duns ... The Jim Clark room dedicated to this Borders Man ...Formula 1 World Champion, 1963 and 1965, 72 Grand Prix starts, 25 Wins, 33 Pole Positions Winner Indianapolis 500, 1965 ( i.e. he won the world championship and the 500 in the same year)....

Only Mrs Zermatt remains a straggler back from Northern Italy tonight.... her idea of a fly-drive holiday is I drive and she flies...
Brilliant time everyone - i think it will take a few days to come to terms with what we saw, we drove and we visited .
for those thinking of a similar trip i can recommend the book PawnSacrifice ( formally of this forum) recommended.... One Careful Owner
