Quick question... are there any indications on the dash when cruise control is engaged? I don't see anything on mine but it's definitely working.

Thought it was just me - still haven’t got around to trying it, and I don’t shy away from stuff. This was me today with my e90. The instructions for this put me off, but will man up soon.

Come on hypergrade man up, if you can do that to your E90 then fitting cruise to your Z4 will be a walk in the park

Part of it is my slipped disc, which means I don’t want to contort myself right now, but a lot of it is understanding how to get from the cowling over to the glovebox. I haven’t taken the time (because small spaces aren’t for me right now) to look for a way to track the wire over. Don’t like starting it if I don’t understand the full job.

Hoping for a back miracle any day....

It’s easy to route the wire over from the cowl. The panel under the ac controls makes this easy.

You need to insist the help of a small child by the sounds of it.

Which bit worries you?

My car is the N52 version. The main bits of concern are
- where the wires go
- what equipment I need.
- how to remove panel below ac unit
- when to refer to BMW instructions
- assume VI I is violet and BR is brown but what does GE and SW stand for?

It'd be really helpful if you could flesh out the instructions maybe add more steps and remove the abbreviations. Basically more dumbed down for he average Z4 owner.

I'm happy to give stuff a go but feel free to tell me to go to a garage.

To end on a positive it looks like a great product

OK

Tools will vary, but trim removal, torx bits, screwdriver, length of wire, insulation tape to attache blue cable to wire. Heat of some form to shrink heat shrink tube (cigarette lighter works well)

Panel below AC just pulls off from the front.

Refer to BMW instructions to remove the Light switch and routing the cables and then refer to mine for connecting. It's only pin27 and pin31 to worry about on the light switch and the relevant connector in the ECU housing.

VI/GE = Violet & Yellow (pin 27)
BR/SW = Grown/Black (Pin 31)

Best thing to do is have a go. Just looking at the instructions it could look daunting, but it's not a hard job when you have a go.

Hi,

Almost cracked this! At the stage where the blue wire goes to the box in front of the DME case (N52 engine). Grateful if someone can explain how they routed the blue wire through the rubber hose to Pin 39?

I’ve only done one. From memory i disconnected the plugs from the small black box where pin 39 is. Doing that enabled me to straighten out the rubber hose enough to push a bit of garden wire through with which I could then pull the blue wire through.
