I have a 5S hand-me-down as a personal phone and a 6 from/for work. Both do me just fine during the day as I have an iPad Air -or a laptop - for stationary time. A grand for a phone is just ridiculous.

I have a Samsung C3050 that I bought in 2010 for £30 from Tesco on a PAYG deal!

It makes and takes calls, has voicemail, can handle texts so does all I need!

I had to buy a new laptop this year - got a Dell Inspiron 15 for about one third of the cost of this new iPhone.

Is it really that good?

How do you get updates for the phone or sync it with iTunes as I haven't been able to update any older iPhones for a long time, if I connect my 3 to iTunes it just says its an old version and won't sync.

This is why I gave up on my 3GS last year, no updates and more and more apps wouldn't work. I now have an SE which does the job for me.

...but Samsung have been using screens like this for years and are going to be supplying Apple with the screens for the iPhone X. Ye but I wouldn't buy a Samsung so its nice that the iPhone finally gets it. But completely agree as a designer and photographer they have pretty much left me in the dust. Use a windows 10 machine at work now which I actually quite enjoy using. All my personal stuff is Apple and prefer IOS and love mac OS.

Im using an old Mac pro 2010 with a hex core 3.33 upgrade 48gb or ram and a 512 NVME SSD. Its still chugging along fine, the creative apps are my issue really lightroom runs so badly on any machine that the performance difference is non existant and it still produces video at a decent rate for the amount I edit. I can also have 6 drives inside unlike the trash can where I would need to spend £500-1000 for an enclosure to put the drives in. Would love it if they could sort themselves out but its obviously not a priority... see what the imac pro and new mac pro brings. No doubt it will be 3-12k so that will be me out would rather get another Z4M

I'll be getting it, but my phone is personal and work and I don't pay for it. The MD ok'd me to go and get it once it's out.

I do wonder though that people will pay any amount because its Apple over whether its actually any good, will see,

I have a Oneplus 5 too, it's incredibly quick to use, from app speed to charging and well priced. Apple is the sheep's choice and I can't stand just having a grid of apps. Customisable home screen ftw.

Yes the 8 isn't cheap as chips either and why I went with Hauwei although its taken me 4 months harranging Barclays to sort their banking app out so it works on Hauwei phones which has been a right pain :thankfully sorted now.
