Nice hand Ronk, however I’ll see your almighty argument, and I’ll raise you and go all in with an instant divorce....
Instant Divorce !
You would be lucky to afford a bicycle after that. :headbang:

There you are I’ve ruined that for you, just like the rear of the E89, no need to thank me :D

Nice but not as stunning as the concept version. Think I would prefer a second hand i8 for what I suspect would be the same price

I have no idea what the car companies hope to achieve by building a futuristic concept car, publishing pictures on their own website, inviting prospective customers to register interest and then the production car becomes a disappointment.

On the one hand I have to accept that their marketing departments know what they're doing. On the other hand I think they raising false hope that lead to disappointment.

Do those count as 'stacked' headlights still though? They said the headlights would revert to side-by-side internals at production.

Still look stacked to me which would be a real shame as it loses its BMWness, looks more like a jag in terms of lights.

omg out of all the pics I have seen of this car there isn't a single photo of the car with the roof up? Does the car even have a roof? or is it such a disappointment that they too embarrassed to show it?

Is it a hard top? is it a soft top? if its a bloody soft top again then it most definitely does not get my vote. No offense to all the soft top roof lovers but I hate soft top roofs. Personal preference which is why I love the E89 so much.

It's rumoured to be a soft top but either way it will alienate 50% of Z4 lovers. I would have thought they would design a zed with either as an option and please everyone.

So they have gone from a beautiful silent extremely fast compact hard top roof to an olden day skadonk soft top again
That would explain why they don't show it with the roof up...looks crap! Such a new design of car with all the latest bells and whistles with a material top that will eventually fade in the sun and get frayed and make noise and and and.

I have no words. :headbang:

Sorry guys but they have gone backwards...

To be fair, the most likely reasons for the fabric roof is:
1. A metal folding roof couldn't be packaged at all / compromised too many other things such as boot space and centre of gravity

2. The budget didn't stretch that far because they focused on other things such as the chassis and drivetrain

I doubt the BMW design team would have specc'd a fabric roof from the pre-concept stage, probably engineering's doing

I wouldn't have a soft top myself but I don't think they look ugly. As for falling to bits after a few years just look at the amount of older Zs on here with nothing wrong with them.
The reason for no pics with the roof up could be as simple as its a convertible and that's how it looks best.
I don't know the answer to this but when previous Zs were launched did they show the roof up on them? Or is it standard to show them with the roof down?
Anyway, I don't need to worry about trivial things about the new model as it will be a while before it is at a price I could afford. :)

Spot on... it's not like it's a 1st Gen MX5 or an S2000 roof... Z4 roofs, while not everyone's preference are very good, and unless they are faulty they don't make any noise. I've seem more issues with folding hard tops than I have soft tops. I don't have a horse in the race here either.
