Z4MR breaking...regrettably I might add

Hi folks, some of you may have seen my for sale posts over on the marketplace. Regrettably my Carbon Black Z4MR is being parted out, its had far too many mechanical and electrical gremlins which I've tried to resolve over the past 18 months but given the rarity of good used Z4M specific parts, it's proved an expensive and futile effort

Most frustrating gremlin had to be the ZF gearbox, initially installing a brand new LUK clutch kit and flywheel (original flywheel and clutch was severly worn beyond the rivets) only to then discover the 'synchro mesh' and/or selector rods may have been damaged previously. Even got desperate and tried fitting an E46 M3 manual gearbox to no avail (marginally longer meaning non centered Shifter, shorter propshaft etc).

Then, there's the knackered differential which requires a full rebuild and a very noisy propshaft (something to do with worn internals whatever that means!).

And more recently, problems with DME/EWS/no Crank no start... Truth be told it was a high mileage car (102k) when I bought it and clearly had a hard/abused life clearly. Granted I bought it cheap due to its problems (forgot to mention patchy/shoddy paintwork and non working roof) but to put it right now would be uneconomical and I just don't have any more patience nor funds to sink into it and need to cut my losses so to speak. I guess the old adage "you get what you pay for" really resonates in this instance

So far I have interest in s54 engine, gloss black 224s, exhaust system, piano black trims, E46 steering wheel with airbag.
I'll be keeping most of the electrical modules for my Z4M Coupe and fuse board, relays, BST, steering column, as these are getting pretty hard to come by and are Z4M specific.
Apart from the problem items (DME, gearbox, differential) and the items above, most other parts are available and will be listed over the coming weeks when I start to pull it apart.

If there's anything you need or want to haord long term given the scarcity of Z4/Z4M parts, please let me know and I'll work out a price.

That’s a tragedy ☹️, I’ll feel bad for even asking:
Bonnet badge and grommets?
Cruise control stalk?

Come on, all that sounds easily sortable to someone with the time and space to do it. Rebuilding gearboxes isn't especially expensive these days either.
Honestly describe it and get it on ebay. I can't imagine you'll get anything like what its worth by breaking it.

No cruise stalk, front bumper badge isn't in best condition but will take a photo later and post up.

Might be interested in the ashtray assembly if it's in A1 condition

I’ll take it in any condition, so long as it’s not actually broken, and price reflects condition. £40 for a new one.

I would be interested in the wheels depending on condition, passenger side door car if it’s black & near side headlight.

Full respray £2-3k depending on thoroughness i.e. glass seals, roof seals etc (all panels but passenger side door requires paintwork), rebuilt diff £1.5k plus fitting, secondhand gearbox approx 3k euros (without guarantees) plus fitting, new MSS70 DME £1.7k plus programming, not even priced up a new propshaft but it won't be cheap for sure.

Already sunk clost to £2k in tyring to bring it up to sound mechinal standard and best part of 12 months of free time but sometimes you just need to move on...

How much are you expecting to make by breaking it up?

How much would you make by selling the car complete?

It'll be more work pulling it apart than fixing it. Honestly I've done this many times and it just isn't worth it.

Hope you can save it though

Dash and console trims spoken for on marketplace, I'll note your interest in headlights, third brake light and stereo. As for steering wheel, it's an E46 m sport wheel and already has some interest or were you after the z4m steering wheel?
