A belated recommendation for BM Autosport in Eastbourne who exchanged my split rim Type 108 wheels for MV2s back in June.

After getting through three sets of 108s under warranty (BMW paid for them all, though I had to pay a fitting charge to the dealer for the last set), I decided to go for a less corrosion-prone single piece wheel, and also wanted to keep everything standard, so MV2s it had to be.

I really didn’t trust most of the offers on eBay and the like. I’d say wheels are fairly high up the list of components you don’t want bodged. On the other hand, Mark at BM was helpful and knowledgeable and answered the technical questions I threw at him, which gave me confidence as did the on-line reviews.

Eastbourne is a long way from where I live in Yorkshire, but I was able to time the visit to coincide with a continental holiday and the total detour getting down to Dover was 70 miles, which I reckoned was acceptable.

The fitting went smoothly, and the wheels look great apart from the front O/S one which I managed to kerb about ten days later on a mountain pass in Austria!

That's why I sold the 108s on my previous E86 before they needed an expensive refurb!

They may look great, but can be a PITA.

Was it pretty good deal-wise? I fancy something different and my current 108’s are heading slowly toward refurb time.

MV2s are OK, but hard work to clean (my first Z4 had them). I'd look for something on here - 107s look great.

Its a shame the 108s rot like hell, I really liked them on my E86. I got MV2s now and really like them, they look very BMW

They look very nice.

I’d be keen to trade my 108’s in against something perhaps CSL’ish.

Nice neat looks! Gonna show that to a friend tomorrow! He'll fetch this new E90 330i project once we mounted the suspension and nitto tires from 4 Wheelonline onto his Wrangler jeep. The car gonna need new tires soon.
