What calipers colour?

Hi All,

I bought recently this nice Z4 20i. I am an entry level here :) Unfortunately it doesn't have the blue M brakes. Recently, I realised that I can't stand the standard calipers, but at the same time I can't paint them Blue pretending that are like the M's ones.

So what colour do you suggest? I would like to make them gloss black. Do you suggest any stickers on them, like a white M?

Thanks in advance!

My honest opinion is that you will be highlighting the fact you have smaller callipers. So something subtle like gloss black or grey should do it

I agree with enuff_zed.

If you don't have the bigger brakes you don't want to draw attention to them.

I dont have an M so I just had them powder coated black whilst I was having some other stuff done . I think most peoples opinion including myself is that if it is not an M don`t put M badges or stickers on it . As said you dont want to highlight that they are small calipers not M calipers .
It is your car so your choice but its a no from me

I've never understood why anyone would want to paint calipers anything other than silvery grey or black.
What is so special about a brake caliper that you would want to draw the eye to it? I guess if you are trying to make your car look "racey" then paint away but it kind of feels like these guys who stick ///M badges on non M cars.
I think the term is stolen valour.

Blood black would look right in my view. With no badges. Keep it simple.

Black Hammerite smooth. Easy DIY and makes them disappear. No stickers! IMHO. :)

Yes, exactly this it is what wanted to hear about this topic. I want to make them less visible. ... But in a way it is like a finishing. Because even if standard they still noticeable also because of the rim. The black is that one I had in mind.

For the sticker guys, I asked your opinion because I don't want to put them tbh, but I saw it do by others and I had the doubt... Anyway, thanks for your help!

I've had the massive blue calipers on another car and they are not as good as you would imagine. The paint is stove enamelled from the factory and chips really easily. Once chipped it is impossible to re-colour them unless you go for full stove again which is very expensive. The 'M' badges look a bit naff IMO even from the factory.

Hi guys, I have a doubt... Is a silly question but I going to ask anyway. If I paint the calipers can I have some problem with the garantie or service and maintenance package? In which occasion can I have such a problem? Thanks in advance!

They have your money so now all you are is an inconvenience and potential pain in the ass….

I’d be getting a written signature from the service manager to say you can paint them before even buying any paint. They’ll wriggle out of any warranty work given the chance and they won’t let a simple calliper paint make any difference, you’ve altered your car so that’s that sir, you can pay for your new gearbox yourself…

Who says you shouldn't paint small calipers? Done correctly they can look great:
