So yes I know I should put a data monitor on it..but I’ve not really been out in the car following it’s winter overhaul since I’m recuperating from a cataract op…

Took it out today for a test drive for both me and following fresh coils and plugs..

Battery was fully charged..and it’s relatively new…

Roof open and shuts perfectly on the interior buttons…

Roof closes on the fob..but..

Roof won’t open on the fob..

The red light flashes on the interior button whilst trying this operation..

Luggage check lid in place..

Key in car lock opens windows but not roof..

Both keys have same effect..both have had new batteries recently…

Mirrors and seats move on different keys

V weird…anybody had this ?

Obviously it’s only cars with comfort access or an aftermarket unit that can hoist the roof up on the fob..

Every E89 should be able to drop the roof on the fob…

I just wonder whether the ID4Motion digital display or the Mr 12 Volt MMI box are involved as they both sit on the can bus?

I’m surprised the thing has started and got to Tescos considering the open brain surgery it’s undergone recently… :poke:

Seriously though with all the add ons it’s probably not really too surprising is it. :?

You should be impressed that I could see enough to find Tesco..

That is the problem when you change many things at one go..

Of course I recycled it many times over the winter to get to the trim etc..but did most of that on the button not the fob..

1st world problem..

Do you have any codes? Usually a good starting point. Live data from all micro switches. Go from there. Otherwise is guessing games.

Yes I’ll get round to it..various 1st world issues like a week in the Pennines then a Isle of Bute / mini NC500 the following week gets in the way..

Still a mystery as to why, say it was a micro switch or other sensor why it works perfectly on the internal buttons…can’t help feeling it’s a status flag from the DME or something like that.. :tumbleweed:

So plugged Protool in…only vaguely relevant code is a fault with the comfort access on the driver’s door

Running data logging no roof related issues.

Checking the door handle seems like an intermittent fault on the grip sensor on the door handle…

Maybe that’s it?
