I bought some on EBAy that were painted with a smoke finish. They looked good for about two months and the smoke started to chip of. I used my fingernail and scrapped it all off in about two minutes. I paid $99 for them really not worth it. These seem like much better ideas.

I think BMW only sells the whole thing as one piece, unlike Bavarian's black ring.

There is a chemical (non exotic) that is used on some of these plastic chrome parts that will change the color. Not to black but to a darker shade of chrome. Damn if I can remember what it was...gimme a little time and I'll investigate. It may be another alternative to all this.

The ones I bought weren't painted. Looked more like the smoked spray you use on tail lights.

Hi Everyone.

I have been trying to remove the grilles on my E86. Im doing the upward force with outward pull.
They just dont want to budge. Im afraid any more stress and Ill snap the plastic. Literally cutting into my fingers.
I watch videos on YT and the grilles just pop out. What is the secret technique here?

Anyone else having issues?

Probably got a bit seized as the car is a bit more, uh, mature now :D

Push in and out so that the dirt dislodges whilst keeping the pressure to point a bit upwards
