Centre trim - leather wrap :)

Help required please.

Car in bits, but run out of bravery / talent on my way to wrapping it with leather, so have a question that some of you may be able to help with.

The switch unit is still connected firmly into the console, and the console is only connected to the car by the three electrical connectors feeding that unit - I can have a blind fumble behind and try to disconnect the wires, but hope there's an easier solution where I remove the switches from the top of the console.

Tried search a few times and can't figure it out.

Should be easy I know, but can't figure out how to remove the switch unit - help please. Will post pictures when I'm done as a reward!

Guiseley - open the ashtray, take out the actual ashtray, and underneath there's a screw... Might be a torx screw, might not, can't remember. Then grip the front of the unit, pull up till free then rotate out of the unit. Neds gentle force. Hop I have understood what you are asking and it helps

Sorry to ask, but have you removed the cross-head screw at the bottom of the ashtray?

If so, then there's just the 3 cables.

Cheers - I've done the screw, so looks like I need some brute force (I'll get the plasters ready!)

Just done it - Cheers :D

Tony, you're not far wrong there - I haven't done this for a while but from the front of the console (nearest the gearstick) pull in and upwards, you have to rotate the whole thing up from the front, and then out. From what I remember.

Good luck! What's the mod?

Is that a genuine Alpina dash or a custom jobby?

That was a genuine dash, but only on loan so now have a custom one which is the colours reversed
