Hello chaps

Does anyone use any type if boot rack on the z4 roadster?

I see the poem one needs holes drilled in the boot :-(

I have the oem one. it was fitted when i bought it. Have not used it in four years of ownership. looks good and sturdy. but yes, when it is on, it is on.

I think there has been a couple of threads in the past.
 
I think roadstersolutions have a boot rack simiilar to eg. Fapa Unispider , but I havent seen any z4 with it fitted
I had a boot rack like this in my Barchetta - it was brilliant, esp when it comes to carrying skies

Yea that's the trouble with the oem one and for what is only going to be used for two weeks of the year. Well not even that just the first day and last day I do t really want a permanent fixture

I bought one at Silverstone (they were on special offer - 20% off). I haven't had a chance to use it in anger yet, but it looks pretty well designed/constructed. There have been some posting on here from people who have done long/fast journeys with one and had no problems.

The issue is not for more space

It's to attach two or three body boards to for when we go France surfing

Can I just ask the strap that goes around that bag goes under the boot lid, all the way round?

Because that's another option I have straps and surf board pads

Yes, that's exactly how it works. You also get a non-slip rubberised mat that fits between the bag and the boot lid, to protect the paintwork.

Nice thanks for the info. I think I will go along this route with strapping I think

I got a reply back about shipping costs $130 so add the $230 for the boot rack that's $360 about £200 then you gotta add import tax so it's quite a lot really

Likesuckers doesnt sound like a compliment.. or maybe it does?
The rack was mounted a bit similar that roof racks are mounted on cars thet.. err... have roof

So after my op, about getting a boot rack ... and not really wanting to spend £200+ on a boot rack that i would only use once or twice a year

I have bought this:

They are foam with straps on them, that would normally go on a roof of a car with a roof. But they fit the boot just fine

And they was only £30 on ebay
 
But you still cant carry skies on them.

Would anyone explain to non-native english speaker what do you mean by "likesuckers"?

It was a typo

It ment to say looks like suckers

As in what holds it on to the boot, ie some sort of suction cup mount :thumbsup

Luckily it doesn't snow in the UK and I have no need to carry skies lol

I know it's an old topic.. but, winter season is coming and I still didn't figure out how to carry skies with my z4

No, they're not suckers, they're mounts, quite simmilar to the ones you would use on normal roof rack

Does any of you use this one, maybe?
