So my sat nav stopped working !! after posting the problem on the forum and reading up ,everything pointed to the antenna
So on forum advice bought this

Now to change it : the antenna is located behind interior light, there is a short connection which can be pulled apart. Being a lazy sod i did not want to remove all the trim to get to the back of the DVD drive to plug the antenna in., so thought i would be able to get at it through the interior light

Removing interior light it's fairly easy i started at the left hand corner and gently work my way down with a small screwdriver, it's on spring clips at the front ,when you can get your fingers in you can pull it down obviously be careful
Disconnect the interior light you can now see the nav antenna it's held up with two philips screws
Remove the screws and you can pull the antenna apart
The next bit is a little more tricky the connection for the antenna was held to the body of the car with duct tape, and was impossible to get your hand in push the new connector together, so with a little gentle persuasion and screwdriver i managed to remove it from the tape, this meant i could pull the interior trim down at the front and push the sat nav antenna through so it hung down on the windscreen.
This now meant i could connect the new sat nav antenna, and test the sat nav was working

Once the new antenna was connected within 10 minutes sat nav was up and running again

To refit the new antenna, thread the new antenna through the hole left by the interior light, gently pull down the trim and push it out so that it hangs down on the windscreen. With both ends of the antenna now hanging down by the windscreen it easy to connect them together, you can push the connected antenna back through the interior trim .
Then coil up all of the excess cable and push it up into the corner
Now simple attach the new antenna to the old bracket and screw back up
Reconnect the interior light push back into place job done.
All in all it took me about 40 minutes and cost £3 .99
Please forgive any spelling mistakes and poor punctuation i'm not the most literate of people hope this help somebody in the future

Result

Didn't know the existing one was on a short lead. I had assumed it went all the way back to the DVD drive. Made the job a lot easier.

Did you try the OEM antenna again after unplugging it? Mine came back to life!

No I didn't already had the new one, it was only £ 3.99 so just used that but I still have the old one

Great write up, and helped get me out of a jam with my sat nav. I got the new antenna from the same place.

Only problem I had is I couldn't see the connection once the interior light and the antenna unit was unscrewed. I took the left hand sun visor off and could then see the connection through the right hand sun visor fitting hole. pulled it out through there and then followed the rest of the how to.

Sat Nav worked again straight away. Nice cheap fix and only took 40 minutes. Top Notch.

PS I forgot to mention, if anyone is looking for the replacement antenna, buy the one with the straight connector not the right hand one.

When you remove your old one you will find it has a clip that holds it in place that will not be able to go on your replacement antenna. However mine was magnetic and so did not require it anymore!
