Has anyone else noticed premiums up recently?

My mums car was only £188 last year but this year I'm struggling to get it under £250. Nothing has changed..

My renewal was £50 more expensive than last year, but I hadn't had chance to call to renegotiate before I had my accident.

Used the comparison sites and found I could beat the renewal quote elsewhere (e.g. esure, Admiral, Bell, Sheila's Wheels) with the fault accident declared, but went with LV= in the end.

If you'd like a quote for comparison please do give us a call. Our success at providing winning quotes improves further when there's a sudden jump in the market.

I've just spoken to a lovely lady called Kathy at CKI and got a nice competitive quote from them.

Unless we can find it a lot cheaper I think we'll be going through CKI as they seem to offer a more personal touch to the whole insurance quagmire.

Still not getting it that a few % increase in tax would ramp up the premium that much though?

I think insurers have taken the opportunity to add a bit too in response to the higher repair costs and the failure of personal injury reforms to have the desired effect.

Its odd because both my parents cars are significantly up (£70 each Audi A7 and Kia Soul) however my BMW X4 is £4 up on the Z4 quote I had last year.

2015 Z4 group 44 insured with 3k miles personal only
2016 X4 group 31 insured with 10k miles 5k business and 5k personal
£4 increase in premium?

Maybe I'm trying to make sense of completely made up insurance premium methodology..

It can vary by colour as well, the grey Audi I have is about £300 cheaper to insure than an identical white one. Work that one out....

Recession white must be driven by suicidal maniacs :)

But it is interesting that insurance statistics include colour, so if you buy a really rare colour with zero accident statistics you should get a good premium versus the "in-colour" choice.

Mmmmmm....... I'm struggling to find a car in 'wheelchair grey' or 'dog turd brown' for a cheaper quote!
