hi all,

i know theres a million and one topics about this but none seems to answer my question that i can find. essentially I've just bought a 55 reg zed thats got business bluetooth and sat nav. I've got the bluetooth pin etc i just want to know is there anyway of me pairing my phone (I've got the instructions but would rather not both if its not possible) and playing music / spotify via the bluetooth link without doing anything to the car or adding any bits?

basically can i plug and play music is my question?

buy one of these or similar from Amazon plug into aux and USB power and pair with phone
Music streaming was not available until E89 or even later than introduction and then only with certain options factory fitted
This method is only option without expensive add ons .............

Do you have factory ipod connection? If so you can get a Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the ipod connection

No ipod connection I'm afraid, looks like I'll have to get something added, thanks for the replies all, I think rather than the bluetooth route I'll just fit an aux socket and work with that

What year is your Z? (I have no idea what a '55 reg' is sorry). If it's a facelift model, have you checked the panel under the heater controls for an aux port?

Hi , I have a Z4 64 reg, under the central armrest , there is a USB port and a 3.5 mm jack. I bought a TaoTronics wireless and connected it there . It auto starts when the power is on , and connects to the phone. I have my Bluetooth connected to Taotronics for music and to BMW for calls . works like a charm , the only thing is that the music does not start automatically , I always have to ask Google to ' resume music ' when starting.

The OP's question was about the E85 (possibly E86) not the E89 like yours. It was also 3 1/2 years ago, so I would hope he got it sorted by now :) . Thanks for contributing though, and love the pic in your sig

Can you then control the music from the steering wheel when connected via the TaoTronics adapter? Cheers.
