Quick update - starter motor was indeed the culprit. Sorted quickly

Good you got it sorted-but, what age is your Z and mileage??

Thanks you, just had the same problem, I thought it was battery first so changed that and then gave the starter a bang when that didn't work and hey presto it now works.
What a mine of information this place is.
Will have to get it replaced.

Replaced the starter motor this morning took about an hour in total so not a bad job to do to be fair.
Lets hope nothing else decides to stop working

Only just seen this. Mine's a 2004 and just turned 90k
