New springs required (& Discs)

So my M just failed it's MOT on rear spring broken and rear discs corroded.

If I do the 2 rear springs, it looks like it may be as cheap to fit Eibach all round. I'm not fussed about lowering, although the front could come down a bit. Is it an easy enough job, or are compressors etc required? Happy to get my hands dirty, just don't want to shell out for tools etc!

Thoughts?

Discs will be replaced with pads. Funny, as BMW passed it last year and they were worse! I had to go indi as the Oxford BMW is booking a month away!

OEM Part list:

34212282303 disc
34212282304 disc
34216761248 pads
34357836969 sensor
83192158851 paste

33507836827 spring

Fitting Eibachs all round is a good choice, but I think it's a two man job and can be tricky without the right tools. It'll cost you about £200 for the fitting at an independent.

Thanks, what about just fitting rear OEM's, if there is still a similar cost, it makes sense to go Eibach still.

Spring compressors are needed, they are about 15 quid though and we'll worth having. It's quite a simple job on the zed, just make sure to jack both sides up evenly makes it a lot easier with the arbs...

Give your self 45 mins a corner.

I would not want to place my life in the hands of 15 quid spring compressors!

Why would you want to pay more for 2 lengths of stud bar and 4 shaped bits of metal. That's what I used to do mine no problems.

Easy peasy job, you only need compressors for the fronts.

I used H&R on my E46 M3 CS and had no complaints. Lasted much longer than OEM, slight drop for no big difference in ride quality.

I also swapped pads for RS29s. OEM parts were so expensive I usually fitted upgrades instead. RS29s were probably a bit OTT for the road but something like DS2500 might be worth a look.

There are so many ways that parts can fly in all directions! Last time I had to do this a BMW tech mate did it for me using the dealership's big BMW spring compressor special tool and even with that it was evident how much force was involved!

Ahh, H&R, so what's the best ones to go for then? If it's of any help, I'm not fussed about lowering, but don't mind a bit either.

Marc, service and brake fluid booked for 25th July, 1 month from when I booked it! Useless.

Think about replacing the shocks too, unless they are relatively new. The Z4M is pretty hard on dampers anyway and fitting lowering springs is a quick way of highlighting any deficiencies.

I would have though the bilstein b12 kit is a cheaper and better option of that's the plan.
