Looking at Z4 Coupe's at the moment, and saw this in Airdrie. Bit of a long shot, but wondered if anyone knew anything about the car? (eg. if you were a previous owner, or had been to see it). It's a long way from me (about 5 hour drive!), so I can't just pop in and see it, hence I thought it was worth a shout here to see if anyone had anything good or bad to say about the car (or indeed the dealer!).

Thanks for reading, and thanks for any help!

(PM me if you don't want to say something publically (assuming I can receive PMs as a newbie?)).

Z4 Coupe is a great choice OP (but as I'm on my 2nd I may be biased)!

I know nothing about that car, but apparently the last 7 characters of the VIN should be LJ50563, but when I put that into websites like BMW VIN it doesn't bring up any details!?

Before you travel miles to look at it, I'd ask the seller to confirm the VIN as it is displayed in the windscreen then do a check using the last 7 characters.

If that checks out, it looks like a reasonable deal.

It was for sale on Autotrader/Gumtree from a private seller months ago asking £8500 if i remember correctly.
Perhaps trying to sell it before having to trade it in.

Is there a reason why you are drawn to that particular example?

I'm all for travelling for the right car but there must be others that take your fancy closer than 5 hours away.

Thanks folks. Helpful.

No specific reason re that car. Just the combo of wheels, colour (in and out), not "moon miles", history, etc, made me take a look.

Travelling not an issue for the right car. I see it as a day-trip out with an entertaining drive home!

It also lets you try your car out. I bought mine in Uxbridge. Over 400 miles away. I loved driving it home.

If the colour combination is what you want and you like everything else about it I'd go for it! According to some figures another member got the UK only got about 120 Sport Coupes in Ruby Black, and I reckon you could wait years to find another one with red seats! (I really like the piano black interior trim as well)!

Out of interest can anyone shed some light on the centre armrest? Is it a BMW part - I'd quite like that in my Coupe?

For what it is worth, When I was looking for a roadster I came across a 50k miles example. The bodywork and trim was immaculate and all looked great until I looked underneath. I have never seen as much rust on any car i have looked at, even the shocks had a 6mm coating of bubbled up rust all round.

The car was two owner and had been purchased 12 months earlier from Scotland.

I rightly or wrongly put the excessive underbody rust down to the high levels of salt used on the roads. I don't look at cars north of the border any longer.

Is it just me or is this a decent price from a dealer? Fairly rare colour combo both interior and exterior, piano dash etc and full BMW Service History.

Yea does seem like a great price for a dealer. It is in Scotland though which will limit the market somewhat maybe that's why it's cheaper

I would want pictures of the underneath before travelling up to see it.

Lovely colour combo though so could be worth the travelling if it's clean underneath and everything stacks up.

Just realised it doesn't have xenons… I thought that 'cos it had the headlight washers it would have xenons, but the options list and the (I assume) headlight adjust dial to the right of the steering wheel shows that it doesn't. Kind of got used to having xenons in my last 3 cars… how much of a backward step is it to go back to halogens?!
