Hi all,

I've got an indicator which I thought the bulb was just out on. It's been replaced and unfortunately it's not fixed the problem, indicator is still out and as a result it flashes at double speed with the associated bulb fault light on the display.

Before I consider a new LCM is there anything else I could try? Can anyone point me towards the part number as well for the LCM as I can find a few and not sure which is correct. The car is a 2007 e86, 3.0si

Cheers

Check the blub holder and wiring.
Also check/replace the other one, there are two on each side. A bulb can show as faulty even if it works, car can sometimes pick up they are on their way out.

it wont be the LCM, the car checks bulbs hot and cold so sometimes if a bulb is faulty but still lights up can cause the error. Worst case is you can code the car via navcoder to stop car check bulbs to remove light on dashboard and quick blinking

Sorry I did not explain it properly.
Out of the two indicator bulbs on one side of the front lights is faulty / not working.
The bulb has been replaced but it still does not work, only one of the bulbs works causing the quick flashing of the indicator lights on that side.

Thanks for the help all.

so you have a fault with the headlight unit and not the LCM?

Well the garage are yet to do further tests but they are going to look into the headlight unit and wether there is power to that bulb etc before the lcm. Ultimately they said it could be the lcm though.
I just wondered if there is anything I can do or if anyone has had the problem before.

There is, like I said, check the wiring and blub holder. I cant remember if the connectors are the same on each headlight and go to the same bulbs, if they are then you could swap headlights over to see if the issue follows to narrow it down. Or find a known working headlight and try it.

check bulbs by swapping a good one over, check bulb holder and wiring to back of headlight. you have check indicator on wing and in rear lights are ok?

If it's at a garage why are you needing to do anything?

Sides are not bulb checked by default, but worth checking in case they are and can use an interior W5W bulb to check.

It's not, it was in the garage and I asked them to replace the bulb which started the whole problem off.
They had a quick look but it was booked in for other things so it's going back to get this sorted.
Great garage with v good rep for bmw I have no reason to doubt them when they do get to look at it again, I was just wondering if there was anything I could do in the interim.

That's makes sense, depending how much they charge for fault finding there's a lot you can do yourself. LCM is the last thing on the list.

Finally got the car back into the garage, they've checked it all over and it's looking like the LCM.
Unfortunately no breakers had a spare unit that we could try to confirm before I order a new one.

A new one is pretty expensive, do I just get on with it and get it ordered or are there any other options?

The part number I need to get hold of is 9146282, the garage has a look and the part is almost as expensive second hand as it is new.
Anywhere anyone can suggest for a purchase?
Anyone got one in the garage? :D

The car has front fogs which tbh I don't really want and was looking at fitting blanking plates anyway. So could I fit a different (part no) light module in this case. Anything to make it a bit cheaper, I'd even aero the front end instead if I could get a cheaper lcm and stick some of the cash towards this setup.

Cheers all, suggestions welcome :)
