Farewell Z4M Coupe.

Well, title says it all - after around 4 years she's gone. Sold to a small trader who wants it for himself. Anyone who has owned a Z4MC for some time and driven it in anger will understand how this feels i'm sure - not only as a quality vehicle but as an all round cash-purchase ownership proposition at that price point makes for a pretty unbeatable car experience.

Not entirely sure what to write here - it's pretty sad, i never saw it 'go' per say, so didn't have an emotional moment. I had dropped it off for it's full detail + wheel refurb and hadn't planned on it going... but got a great offer, and possibly an opportunity to replace it with something worthy and haven't seen it since! Granted, it's a 10 min drive away and i can go look if i want.. but perhaps best left to good memories!

Had a pretty sh***y experience recently with BMW Park Lane that soured ownership for me massively, nothing to do with the car but BMW as a brand and service centre put me off entirely - A mistake of theirs resulted in lots of involved repairs (all at their cost and admission of fault), and shoddy customer service from anyone who wasn't the poor service desk guy dealing with irate me on their behalf. The outcome being the it kinda feels like someone's changed YOUR car and it's no longer yours.

Upside - whoever gets the car in the long term has it in great mechanical condition, and i'll be very jealous i'm sure. I know i'll be trying to buy it back when i win the lottery.

What's next?

Well - as with most of us i've spent... years... deliberating over a replacement. I've endeavoured to drive everything that people would possibly suggest as an upgrade. There are a few great options (all of which are multiples of the price of a Z4MC, which again is testament to what a great car it is), but in the end there's only ever been one 'upgrade' for me - i'll probably keep it hush until she lands, but when she does i fully expect to bring it to a meet so i can drool over my old car in some odd confused envious way. It''s not going to be a BMW.

I won't be leaving this forum, hopefully nobody minds - and hopefully what i can replace the Z4 with is interesting enough to warrant tagging along a meet or two :)

Thanks all - this forum was part of my choice to purchase, and my reason for keeping the Z4 for so long.

Sounds like a bit of an unexpected sale which has got to be better than struggling to find a buyer!
Don't be a stranger on here, we want pics of the new car

GL buddy, wish you all the best...

i take it the dealer did some damage during their time with the car and the stress of it all kinda put you off the car, which is really sad....

Good luck with the new whip.....keen to see what it is (and will timely add colour to the other thread on here)

Ref the bad brand experience, given the 'brand' made the commitment to put right the mistakes of individuals then I wouldn't let that colour your view on BMW forever. There are a lot of brands who wouldn't be too interested in losing a chunk of cash to fix a 10-year-old model.

That looks a stunning example - you must be suffering withdrawal symptoms!

Shame to hear of your disappointment OP. :(

But that seems to relate to the "stealers", more than the car. Well, hopefully!

An Imola Red Z4MC would be my ultimate Z4 - please don't spoil my dream! (Even though it may never happen).

Looking forward to seeing what you have next - and I hope you enjoy it (even if it isn't a BMW). :driving:

Indeed, i'll reserve the details (very long) for a carpark chat but happy to share. Oh well - a nice nudge to upgrade.

Happy to put you in touch with the current owner (not sure if it's be short or long ownership) so you can acquire as/when he gets rid if you're interested - as a trader it maybe short ownership. Decent guy, and i'm happy to give you the full inside out story of the car and it's positives and negatives. Needless to say it'd be a great buy for anyone wanting to get into a Z4MC - the running costs now are going to be basically zero for 4 years+ (aside from fuel).
