Genuinely intrigued as to why owner count makes any difference? You could have 1 clueless owner thrashing it its entire life, red-lining when cold and flying over speed bumps vs. 9 owners who happen to all be petrolheads and enjoy the car for summer, look after it, then sell on.

Maybe it was undervalued but I paid a similar price for it only a few months ago and think £18k is what it's worth. I wasn't in the mood to hang on to it for weeks/months for the sake of a grand and countless idiots coming to kick tyres.

If it doesnt lake any difference why did you not put in any of the adverts or answer the question ??

Of course 9 owners makes a difference,same as if the car had been one owner from new..

I didn't answer the question as I'd already taken a deposit and happened to not look at this thread for a few days, I'd have been more than happy to tell everyone it had 8 previous owners.

And you haven't actually answered my question? You've essentially just answered with 'It's better because it is...'.

Looking at it from your opinion,it could have had 7 bad previous owners who have thrashed it and flogged it quickly before it fell to bits..

The car may well have had 7 loving, careful owners, but why persist in hassling the poor guy for just selling his car. For sale threads are often a nightmare with these sorts of comments...

Clearly you are either not in a position to buy this car, or are not interested in purchasing this car for whatever reason, that's fine. It's the critical comments from someone who's never got the slightest intention of purchase that is so unhelpful.

You do realise you've just proven my exact point right, don't you? The whole point being that you will most likely never know how the car was looked after by its owners, whether there was one of them or 8. My mum's Audi Q5 is a one-owner car and guess what? I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole as she flies over speed bumps, rags it from cold and generally has no mechanical sympathy. Owner count means diddly squat in terms of how the car has been cared for.

Totally agree with the sentiment Luky but you're just firing bullets into your own boat with the above
Law of averages must equate that the more owners the more % of potentially bad ones therefore lower owner cars will always be more sought after especially with a car like S54 ZM

Also, not wanting to look like im siding with anyone here Luky, but if you trade your car into WBAC, based on a 10k start price with 1 owner, their offer goes down £250 for every additional owner, so that speaks volumes does it not

This is an interesting debate - my gut tells me the lower the number of owners the better, but a change of owner often means a check on service history and a fresh injection of TLC.
I may have to set up a Poll and see what the consensus is

My ZM has 7 previous owners you have to buy a used car on current condition & history , you simply cannot account for every previous mile its covered but lower number of owners will always be coveted , its just how it is

indeed.. you buy a used car on condition not the number of previous owners. Especially with cars like z4's which often are a weekend toy or summer only car. They change hands often. My coupe has had 5 previous owners.
