Ok,

Decided to get myself a DSL (digital storage oscilloscope) for diagnostic work. Don't want to go mad, and much as I'd like some decent pico kit, I can't justify a couple of grand or more for the use it'll get.

So, looking for something that ISN'T PC based, as too much faffing, and also needs to be relatively portable. Don't like the tiny 3" "nano" type, as they are too small, and not enough bandwidth..

So, have got it down to 3 options;

1: Rigol DS1054Z http://www.rigol-uk.co.uk/Rigol-DS1054Z ... Av6h8P8HAQ

Looks like a great spec, and has some good reviews, but slightly concerned that it's an "older" model, although it comes with the latest updateable firmware upon delivery and a 3yr warranty. Also it's a 4 channel, whereas the other two on my list only have 2 channels, but do I really need 4?

2: Siglent SDS1102CNL https://www.siglent.eu/sds1102cnl-100mhz-2-channel.html Newer model I THINK than the Rigol, but is it as good quality?

3: Hantek DSO5202P http://www.hantek.com/en/ProductDetail_95.html One of the newest models, and decent spec for the money?

Anyone (andyfanshawe) got any experience of the above, or scope use in general and can recommend something?

Scopes eh?
I've been using a picoscope for about 2 years. Bought it for about £500 on ebay. Only a 2 channel but an amazing thing.
Zooming into the waveform is exceptional.
Got to be honest, i wouldn't consider anything else. But, saying that, I haven't used any other (apart from the verus built in one).

As you know, with a scope, education is power. Picoscope do so much to help with sample waveforms , tips, free software etc.
Don't pay silly money though. They are out there at the right price.

If you need 4 Channel and trust the Rigol Brand . The it would seem to be a no brainer.

Or you could sell your house and get one of these beauties.

We tried a couple of different scopes,but ended up with a 2 channel picoscope..

Great tool,and worth the money if you get enough work for it.

Gone for a 4 channel Picoscope kit in the end..
