After many years with my 23i and experimenting i finally found the best fuel for my car.
I use a 50/50 blend of Shell E10 unleaded and Sainsbury's super-unleaded.
I wondered being German car they set up/tuned the engines for the ethanol as seeing it was mandated back in 2011 to go E10.
(My...
I can't think of any other car i want. A few have asked me if i would replace it. With what though.
A bit old man beige, but with any luck i will grow into it. Light airy interior.
Been 9 years so far and other local DSB owner still has his from new 2009. In fact seeing that car, i bought mine...
Every time i in get in the car i have to set sport+.
Never used normal other than comparing.
Why wasn't it designed to stay in whatever mode it was last in.
I'm going to rig up some timer to the cig socket to pulse it to sport+.
If you have the roof locked as normal, open boot and slide a screwdriver into the two boot latches to put them in normal locked position.
The system then thinks boot is locked.
I always tie a rag around the rings it normally locks on to stop accidental locking.
Then open roof as far as it will...
Current changes on sensing, so volt won't do it.
Need to just fix the broken wire as it monitors if open circuit, reason for bongs.
From memory i think it's only 3 volts on the feed line.
This is test using 9v battery, used craft blade to trigger.
I have had similar on my car, needs bumper lifting.
Can't remember now if i removed the tail lamp and reached down inside to adjust the mount bolts.
It's supported by the black foam.
Anyone needing to work on roof when open knows the frustration of not being able to open boot.
Simple mod. Take a wire from boot to the cabin area.
I threaded the wire under the plastic trim under the seat belt fixing area.
Some reasons pictures are in a odd order. Take a wire from the...
You can get lights off without fully removing the bumper, but easier if it's off.
Top and side screws removed bumper will pull forward enough to remove. Wheel arch liner half removed.
But the screws holding lamp in place are awkward to get at.

These might be complete rubbish but reason i would try these is the led at the end as well as sides.
The inside of the the bulb holder has a parabolic lens focusing light onto a mirror which projects the the light...
Seen LiFy wire, goes for about £6 metre.
So car roof all sorted now.
Sometimes just chase your tail.
I did at one point pull the Hall sensor and test it.
It was cracked but worked fine.
I tested with 9volt battery in series with multimeter set to 200ma.
Results.
I just placed a craft blade on...
Another rear shell 2 broken wire.
Rear shell half close froze.
Ign. off it dropped under gravity, then would lock.
Warm morning so seems to follow the same symptoms of wires pulling apart with some warm.
I think this time i need to replace all the wires as far back beyond the last bend.
Think they are the kick plate clips?
Worth after a few years to take these sills off as mud collects behind.
Yet i still have not removed the left one.
Part 4 rubber fills gap between body and the sill.
If missing just buy some U channel rubber on Ebay and push in gap, BMW rubber is too...
Yes, you can watch in real time each sensor switching.
I keep meaning to make a video of it if only for my own benefit so that i can compare to any future faults.
I solved my salmon relay fault has it came up as not operating on the Foxwell reader.
Think i paid around £130 with BMW specific...
Just noticed on your repair, "cable connector".
I wonder if they have just stripped back and fitted.
Cable might now be too short and has pulled apart.
Really it needs an extra length of cable added to allow more give and needs to be flexible.
I used some old audio cable with those RCA...
I had some nice polished stainless on the MGTF.
Note the home made wind deflector.
Took a lot of card board prototypes to come up with that design.
Often thought the Zed might need similar, but seems ok.
Scary experience last week, around a blind bend a post van pulled out.
So applied brakes and shocked how slow and how far pedal traveled.
First half of pedal movement did virtually nothing.
First time used in anger for a long time.
So today changed the fluid all well now.
Touch pedal and it...
