    Until we meet again!

Hi there all - leading on from previous post, sadly my Z4 Coupe will need significant work before it can be put back on the road. It could be as "small" as a complete replacement of all rear offside suspension components and the alloy (which had a hole blown through it from the impact), but...

Help save a Z - reckon this is a write off? Help appreciated

A few weeks back someone drove into my beloved Z4 coupe which was parked at the time. The damage was to the rear 3/4 - they clipped the rear wheel which has clearly bent some suspension components out of shape (see pic). The car was shunted forward as a result, with their car taking most of the...

How to: Fix play in steering column (Edited)

EDIT (original below): Unfortunately, the bolts came loose again so ordered the replacement parts direct from BMW (32311157967). These were only about £5 for the pair. Now that I had identified where the play was, there was actually no need to take the steering wheel off, just the plastic...

Video - Front near side suspension rattle

https://streamable.com/z88x2z Hi all - I’m getting a front near side rattle when I’m light on the brakes and also going over rough terrain. It sounds like a piece of plastic rattling around as the suspension travels up and down. When light on the brakes, there is a fair bit of vibration...

Montego Blue E86 is Long Gone - Z4MC 2025 Summer Prep

The eccentric shaft sensor bites again! Mine had the same issue, again with no tell-tale signs (not even a CEL). Thankfully it did throw some codes (some german compound noun for eccentric shaft and plausibility). Out of interest did you get any codes on this?

    Guys I have sinned

Car was pulling a little to the left of late, so assumed that it was due it’s alignment. A few choices round me for the Hunter set up, but thought I’d toss the KwikFit coin and go for their 4 wheel £120 offer since it gives you 8 free aligns over 2 years. This is quite useful as the roads can...

Bilt Hamber Surfex HD - £18.66 Delivered

Saw this on HotUKDeals earlier - this stuff is great especially at this time of year. I had just loaded up pre-Christmas, but thought I would share for others...

E86 (N52K) Eccentric Shaft Sensor - No CEL

It could be a whole host of things to be honest. Best thing to do at this stage is to purchase a C110 reader and let it tell you what the problem is. They cost about £35. Report back with the codes and then you can direct your time and money on fixing it rather than further dianognostics!

E86 (N52K) Eccentric Shaft Sensor - No CEL

Finally got round to replacing the eccentric shaft sensor on my E86. For some background, the N52 uses variable valve lift and timing to negate the need for a throttle body. It is fairly common for these sensors to go eventually, but curiously when they do they don't throw a CEL. Symptoms for...

SGS Engineering - Boot Strut Regassing

Can recommend SGS Engineering for their boot strut regassing (if you find that the boot doesn't open to full reach by itself, then this could be useful for you). For £40 they will regas and send both struts back to you. This works out as about the same cost as replacement struts from SGS, but...

    E86 3.0si mini project

I’m so glad I read this thread - I have some left over sound proofing sheets and was thinking of putting some in the boot. Did you follow a guide for removing the trim? Where did you put the deadening material (just where photographed or did you put more in than that)?

Dash cam install - my experience

Last weekend I fitted a Nextbase 222X front and rear facing dash cam. Picked this model as it fitted my budget (less than £100) and also had a rear facing lens, whilst also getting some good reviews (including a Which? Best Buy). I used other guides on here, and removed the interior light...

6 Speaker Upgrade - My experience

So first of all am fully aware that there are many threads on this, but some are fairly old. Thought I’d share my experience. Today I: - Fitted Hertz DCX 100.3 in the doors (where there were previously blank plates). These were £48 off Amazon. - Fitted silent coat to the car doors and the...

    Goodyear Eagle Asy 5's - 255/35 R18 - £106 fully fitted

Hi all - not sure if this is the right section, but given that this is a popular forum tyre I thought I would post as others may be interested. Managed to get F1 Autocentres to match the price of tyreleader.co.uk (who stock the Goodyear Eagle Asym 5's at £99). The cheapest cost of fitting near...

Which service to book? Opinions needed.

Hi there all. As some of you will know I bought a Z4 Coupe back in Feb off a forum member (Rally-Chris). So far excellent (apart from pesky ABS motor, but we move on), just flown through MOT with no advisories, and now the service indicator is showing around 5,000 miles until next inspection...

Ital Coachworks - body shop in London

Quick feedback for Ital Coachworks. They came recommended on a different forum, so gave them a shout versus the one chosen by Admiral (who looked to be more of a MOT garage than coach works). They do premium car repair, and Gary knew what he was talking about (knew his way round a Z4)...

    Quick question on Xenons

My E86 has factory Xenons fitted, but they are always on. Is this normal? This is regardless of the position of the auto/off/on dial for the lights. When going into a tunnel, the instrument lights come on registering the darker surroundings, suggesting that the light sensor is working. Should...

CONTROLUNITS in Uffculme for ABS repair (in an hour)!

Dreaded 3 dash lights came on a few weeks back, and my C110 confirmed it was the ABS pump not wheel sensor or anything (coders 5DF0 and 5DF1). Was going to use ECUTesting, but needed it done quickly as am doing a Euro Trip this week. Found “CONTROLUNITS” just outside of Exeter. For £360.00...

Update: FIXED Little bit of help required removing ABS pump (South London)?

UPDATE: Found a garage that will fix the ABS pump whilst you wait (and warranty it). “Controlunits” just outside of Exeter. £360.00 including brake bleed Hi there all, Got myself a Z4 last month and unfortunately have the dreaded trifecta of ABS, Handbrake and DSC lights on. This has been...
