Anyone got one ?

My other half is thinking of trading her 1 series in for a roadster and quite fancies the baby Z.

Cheers

I've two mates with 2 litre Zeds. 05 SE and an 07 2 litre sport. I've driven them quite a bit and it's a great car to drive and very good to chuck about as there's less weight especially compared to my car. The sport is better IMO as I much prefer the wheels and seats. Of course it lacks any real grunt but it's still a very good car.

There are some real bargains to be had at present, she needs to go and drive one and an MX5 for comparison. The Z4 is a better drive and better badge.

Some car reviews actually recommend the 2.0 as the one to go for in the Z4 range, so would be a good choice

Yep go for it!

No its not a drag racer but is easily quick enough day to day, and (IMHO) for those of us who want a 'sports car' but on a sensible budget, the 2.0 is a great compromise between the ins / economy / purchase cost / tax vs the aditional performance on the bigger engined zeds... :)

SE vs Sport is matter of personal taste - I have the SE though I guess ideally I would have gone for a Sport if the option had come up...

I have a 2007 2.0 SE and find it great. Its excellent from A-B everyday but then when you get on some twistys its awesome, for a modern car its so much fun and feels like my little mk1 mr2 when you start throwing it around.

Insurance was the only reason i went for the 2.0 SE, couldnt justify paying the extra £300 a year for a sport or £500+ for a 3.0si plus my budget was only £13.5k. The only thing i would change apart from the engine on mine would be the seats to sport bucket seats.

I also drove a 2007 2.0 sport MX-5 when looking at my Z4, it was nice but felt cramped, the engine is noisey, manual soft top which is noiser then the Z4 at high speeds, the rider is harsher, heavier steering and put them next to each other in a carpark there was no contest.

hi man, in my opinion the 2.0 lacks any kind of performance, after all it is supposed to be a sports car and the 2.0 does not cut it

Hi

I've got a 2.0 sports. Feels light and responsive in 1st through to 4th. Knock it into 5th and 6th for good fuel economy but sluggish response under 4000 rpm.

IMHO a truly great well balanced sports roadster.

I love mine to bits but....... I can't help feeling that I'm missing out a little...... been really tempted by the ridiculously low prices to change up to an M. i've been quoted £8K plus mine for a similar age and fully loaded M. The differential when I bought mine 12 months ago was nearer £15K...

Either way you won't be dissapointed.

IMO A sports car does not automatically mean a large, powerful engine. Yes, many do but many classic British sports cars lacked powerful engines. What I look for in a sports car is exceptional handling, light weight, well-engineered, balanced chassis, and good suspension. On tight, twisting roads, such a sports car will often perform more effectively than a heavier and more powerful car. A member of our local ZSCCA chapter, Dick Lienbach, who is the owner of Roadster Solutions has had 7 or 8 various Zed's. He currently has a Z3 M Roadster. I recently asked him of the various Zed's that he has had which is/was his favorite. To my surprise he told me the 1.9. Why asked I. Because you must drive it and it makes you a better driver to get the performance from it and therefore more fun... :driving:

Was out for a hoon at the weekend and my mate in his 2 .0 litre sport kept right up behind me as we hurtled around some quiet twisties in Lancashire. Sounds like a nice car.
