After-market parking sensors?

One of my sensors isn't working. These don't look like BMW ones. The wire goes straight into the sensor. Also, I have a parking 'console' on the dash which I assume is also an add-on job but why that is the case I don't know (she's probably been rear-ended, fnarr,fnarr). Am I right in thinking that someone has replaced the originals? As it was discovered that the sensors were wired into a live Battery feed which was causing a drain. I didn't realise that you could get non-oem sensors for cars.

 
I suspect the car did not come with rear pdc when new and a previous owner has fitted an aftermarket system.
I did fit some myself to my old z4 not sure if you can get individual sensors for these kits have you checked the control unit to make sure it hasn,t be disconnected. When I fitted mine the control unit sat behind the boot lining on the nearside as it is connected to the reversing light wire
 
Looks like just an aftermarket add-on. Mine doesn't have rear PDC's. Although I genuinely cannot see the reason why anyone would need them in a zed - it's so obvious where the rear end actually is, and you're only a couple of feet from it.

Now the front end... that's different ;)
 
Thanks Guys. One, it's no great loss if these don't work, agreed. Two, I don't think I'll be changing them just for the sake of one not working. :)
