Anti nanny state procedures

Before I even contemplate buying a 2023 onwards G29 could a current owner please tell me precisely what the procedures are to switch off lane assist and speed limit bongs. And after that whether it not this needs to be done each time the car is started. I would like a new one in green but if it’s a faff I won’t be buying. Thanks

So.

Lane Assist. Press button in centre console below satnav screen. It has green backlit led ring to indicate all assistance on. Once pressed , I then press individual which i set as lane assist off. Used to be able to press and hold for all off but I can’t get that to work.

Speed limit warning. Press and hold ‘set’ button on steering wheel’ and that deactivates.
Becomes second nature and first things I do.

Have to do it each time start car. I do think some people use bimmercode for more permanent solution.

New cars, from late 24 iiirc you need to switch them off each time you start the car. Older cars once switched off, they stay off.

They both revert back on my daily (new Puma) I was reading about switching off the speed warning permanently and on some forums it said that its law (European!) for cars from last June to have it on. Even though there might be ways of getting it off permanently, this could void warranty and insurance. Im not sure how true that is, but I have to manually take both of each time I start the car. I must say living in Wales and with most roads being 20 mph this is an absolute pain and must be switched off every trip

Can confirm on older cars, once switched off they stay off. Wouldn't consider buying a car where I have to switch them off every time you start the car. :x

Even with the older cars we still have to switch off engine stop/start or put it in to sport mode.

I have stop/start configured to remember last setting (off in my case) via Bimmercode.

Too right, I couldn't be doing with all that nonsense!

Closest I got to that was a 2007 123d with stop/start. After needing a new coded AGM battery in less than 5 years and a starter motor in less than 7 years I turned it off every time I drove it, although if I had done it after the new battery I might have prolonged the life of the battery. :(

I didn't know then that stop/start could be coded to be off permanently, but then reading about cam-chain failures on N47 engines prompted me to sell it anyway which did me a massive favour as I replaced it with my first Z4. :D

I'm obliged to select Sport Mode and DSC off (or M-Track Mode if it's raining), as well as switch on the power supply for my Bluetooth audio / head-up display / dash cam every time before I start my Zed. It's very tedious :D
With my Lotus, the exhaust valve defaults to open, but I have to switch on the ignition at least ten seconds before cold-starting the car to prime the fuel pump.

I have two brand new cars (I know, posh eh?)...
My Audi has everything set to ON by default. So you have to turn lane assist and the annoying speed limit bonging off every time you start the car.
The lane assist is easy; done on the indicator stalk. The speed limit is within a sub menu on the touchscreen MMI thing, so not easy. It's a PITA! And it bongs 4 times every time you go 2mph over the limit. I hate it!
My Focus has all the same nonsense but can be set up permanently to 'advise', 'interfere' or just turn off. Much better.

I'm just glad I'm not posh then!

Just couldn't be a*sed with all that nonsense - but I suppose for the few months you'll have them maybe you can live with it.

Having experienced the latest systems in hire cars it's all a big no-no from me. Looks like my G29 is one of my forever cars.
